Conditions like PCOS, insulin resistance, hypothyroidism, etc. can make fat loss harder, but never impossible. With these health conditions, your maintenance calories are lower, hunger cues or mood may be off, motivation may be low and cause you to be less active, etc. But it’s physiologically impossible for them to CAUSE weight gain in the absence of a calorie surplus. In other words, calories are energy and too much energy is the cause of fat gain… So if you gained weight in a calorie deficit (you absolutely did not), you were actually in a calorie surplus all along. Both ways are right for different reasons… I have clients do it cooked just to make things easier for them and so they can be consistent with tracking their meals. For bodybuilding prep, you can do it either way also, but a more precise way would be to weigh raw so you know almost exactly hiw mich protein you’re actually eating.
