Land. Family. Legacy. These are not just possessions, they are power.

ARRAY’s celebrated series QUEEN SUGAR is more than a story about a family of Black farmers working to keep their land. It is about inheritance—the kind written in soil and sacrifice. This Black History Month, we honor the fight to protect what is ours.

Watch all seven seasons of the award winning QUEEN SUGAR on . Then learn more about the history some are trying to suppress with our QUEEN SUGAR online learning companion at ARRAY101.org

Ha! Imagine thinking you could stop us. We don't need permission to celebrate ourselves.

We remain unapologetic, unshaken and unstoppable. Black history is not a curriculum to be revised, a government celebration to be canceled or textbook to be taken off a shelf. It’s a legacy that can not be erased. This month—and every month—we honor the stories that refuse to be forgotten. Happy Black History Month. Embrace and enjoy!

On stage at Hay Festival Cartagena de Indias, ARRAY’s founder, Ava DuVernay, joined Dr. Suraj Yengde in conversation with Dr. Aurora Vergara Figueroa for a powerful exchange on caste, race and the global systems that shape our societies. With Ava’s latest feature film ORIGIN as the catalyst, they explored the deep roots of hierarchy and oppression—challenging audiences to rethink power and resistance through storytelling.

Dr. Vergara Figueroa, who led the conversation, is a University Consortium on Afro-Latin American Studies Fellow at Harvard’s Afro-Latin American Research Institute (ALARI) and previously served as Colombia’s Minister of Education.

Featured in ORIGIN, Dr. Yengde is one of India’s leading scholars and public intellectuals. Named one of the 25 Most Influential Young Indians by GQ and the Most Influential Young Dalit by Zee, he is the author of the bestselling "Caste Matters" and co-editor of the award-winning anthology "The Radical in Ambedkar."

A huge thank you to Hay Cartagena for the invitation and opportunity for transformative dialogue.
