The Demirchyan family is suing Forest Lawn Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills after discovering that the headstone for their late mother, Hasmik Demirchyan, had been placed over the wrong burial plot for four years. The mistake was uncovered in April during the funeral of her husband, Avetis Demirchyan, when their son was informed that the headstone had been placed one plot over from her actual resting place.

Although the cemetery has since corrected the error, the Demirchyan family is taking legal action, citing emotional distress caused by mourning at the wrong site for years. Their attorney noted that the issue would have remained hidden if the family hadn’t experienced another loss. The lawsuit seeks damages and aims to prevent similar errors for other grieving families. The cemetery has 30 days to respond.

Dave’s Hot Chicken — the fast-growing chain known for its Nashville-style spicy chicken — has been acquired in a $1 billion deal by Roark Capital, owners of major brands like Dunkin’, Subway, and Arby’s. What started in 2017 as a small stand in East Hollywood quickly exploded into a global sensation, with over 170 locations across the U.S., Canada, and beyond. Founded by four Armenian friends from Los Angeles, the brand’s rise has become one of the most remarkable Armenian-American business success stories of our time — blending street food culture, smart branding, and community pride.

Beth Martin’s body was returned to the UK without her heart, raising questions after the 28-year-old British mother died mysteriously in Turkey.

She fell ill during a flight from the UK to Turkey, initially blaming food poisoning. Her condition worsened in Istanbul, and she was hospitalized after becoming “delirious,” dying the next day, April 28.

Her husband, Luke, said Turkish officials were uncooperative and initially suspected him of poisoning her. After arranging the body’s return, British coroners revealed her heart had been removed.

The Turkish Ministry of Health cited “cardiac arrest due to multiple organ failure” but denied any surgical procedures during the preliminary autopsy.

Beth’s family suspects doctors at Marmara University Pendik Hospital missed key details or gave penicillin before knowing she was allergic. The hospital is under investigation.

Additionally, Secretary Rubio emphasized that human rights and the issue of prisoners are critical components of the U.S. approach. These matters were raised during the hearing by Congressman Chris Smith (R–NJ) and Congressman Jim Costa (D–CA).

BREAKING: During Armenia’s Eurovision performance, an Israeli Kan 11 commentator said, “I can’t believe we gave these guys an entire quarter in Jerusalem,” followed by, “Survivor — that’s how we feel after watching this song.”

This racist remark dismisses the 1,700-year-old Armenian presence in Jerusalem — a community that built its quarter stone by stone, not as a gift, but as a lasting legacy.

History was made in Vatican City today as Cardinal Robert Prevost of Chicago was elected the 267th pope — and the first American in the Catholic Church’s 2,000-year history.

White smoke rose from the Sistine Chapel and the bells of St. Peter’s rang out, signaling the cardinals’ momentous decision on the second day of the conclave.

Now known as Pope Leo XIV, the 69-year-old is seen as a centrist with progressive views on key social issues. Like Pope Francis, he has long championed the rights of migrants and marginalized communities.

A U.S.-based research team, Noah’s Ark Scan, is preparing for the first controlled excavation of the Durupınar site on Mount Ararat’s southern flank. This follows ground-penetrating radar (GPR) studies revealing a rectangular structure several meters beneath the surface within a 160-meter-long, boat-shaped formation—dimensions aligning closely with the biblical description of Noah’s Ark.

Soil analyses have uncovered clay-rich earth, marine sediments, and fossilized mollusks, dated between 3,500 and 5,000 years ago, suggesting the area may have been submerged during a period consistent with ancient flood narratives.

While the team plans to commence excavation after establishing a preservation framework with local universities, they have confirmed that no excavations are planned for this year. The current focus remains on non-invasive scientific investigation and analysis to ensure any future steps are based on solid evidence and a robust preservation strategy.

In late March, scientists claimed they had found Noah’s Ark near Mount Ararat, and a newly unearthed CIA document reveals the agency had secretly investigated the site decades earlier. A four-page report, Report Re: Noah’s Ark, shows the CIA searched for the Ark’s location from 1974 to 1982, using satellite and spy plane images after a request from the Director of Central Intelligence.

Scientists now believe a boat-shaped mound 18 miles south of Mount Ararat contains fossilized remains of a massive vessel, backed by soil samples showing marine materials and signs of ancient human activity.

Presidential Message on Armenian Remembrance Day, 2025

“Today we commemorate the Meds Yeghern, and honor the memories of those wonderful souls who suffered in one of the worst disasters of the 20th Century. Beginning in 1915, one and a half million Armenians were exiled and marched to their deaths in the final years of the Ottoman Empire. On this Day of Remembrance, we again join the Great Armenian Community in America, and around the World, in mourning the many lives that were lost.

Every year on April 24th, we reflect on the strong and enduring ties between the American and Armenian peoples. We are proud of the American Committee for Armenian and Syrian Relief, a groundbreaking effort established in 1915 that provided crucial humanitarian support to Armenian Refugees, and grateful for the thousands of Americans who contributed or volunteered to help the Armenians expelled from their homes.

On this day, we bear witness to the strength and resiliency of the Armenian people in the face of tragedy. We are fortunate that so many Armenians have brought their rich culture to our shores, and contributed so much to our Country, including decorated soldiers, celebrated entertainers, renowned architects, and successful business people.

As we honor the memory of those lost, my Administration remains committed to safeguarding religious freedom and protecting vulnerable minorities. We look forward to continuing our strategic partnership with Armenia, and upholding regional stability as we continue to pursue enduring prosperity and security.”
