American-born Susanna Lee Hoffs is an actress, guitarist, singer, and songwriter. She formed the Bangles with Debbi Peterson and Vicki Peterson in 1981. All Over the Place (1984), their debut album, received positive reviews from critics but did poorly in the sales charts. Different Light (1986), their second album, also received favorable reviews from reviewers and went on to being certified double-platinum in 1987 and triple-platinum in 1994.

Included were Prince's "Walk Like an Egyptian" (number one) and "Manic Monday" (number two in the US). The group's third album, Everything (1988), had the number one single "Eternal Flame" and the US top ten hit song "In Your Room." It was written by Hoffs, Billy Steinberg, and Tom Kelly.

Years before there was ever a Britney and Christina, there was a Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. As a guy in the late 80’s I can’t say that I identified as Team Tiffany or Team Debbie, but as a 48 year old man I’m not too embarrassed to admit that when “I Think We’re Alone Now” or “Lost in Your Eyes” comes on in the car…it’s staying on.

I included in the picture Tiffany’s 1987 debut self-titled album and Debbie Gibson’s 1989 album “Electric Youth”, but don’t think because I didn’t use her 1987 debut album “Out of the Blue” that I’m not jamming to “Shake Your Love” in the car too. Yeah, I know my Debbie Gibson.
