Did you know? Lillias White, known for her captivating performance as Missus Hermes in Hadestown lent her incredible voice to one of the Muses in Disney's "Hercules."
The creation of the Muses was a meticulous process, blending elements of gospel, Motown, and classical Greek art to bring these characters to life. The team worked closely with Lillias and the rest of the muses (which also included our fellow Jaja's African Hair Braiding Producer, La Chanze!) to ensure the Muses' design and musical numbers were both visually stunning and dynamic. ✨
🪐👽 It's #UFOday, Earthlings! 🚀✨Take an #OldHollywood rewind with us: UFO and aliens on the silver screen gained popularity in the 50’s and 60’s, especially as the film industry saw significant advancements in cinema technology. The 1950s alone saw a boom in sci-fi cinema, with classics like "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (1951), "War of the Worlds" (1953), and "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1956). This, combined with the public's fascination with space exploration (spurred by events like the launch of Sputnik and the Space Race), inspired filmmakers to craft their own depictions of extraterrestrial life and UFOs, further fueling the popularity of these movies. 🎥 films featured:Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956)The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951)The Thing from Another World (1951)Devil Girl from Mars (1954)Man From Planet X (1951)I Married a Monster from Outer Space (1958)Teenagers from Outer Space (1959)The Twilight Zone - "Hocus-Pocus and Frisby" (1962)It! Tammy Faye’s 1985 interview with Reverend Steve Pieters, an openly gay minister living with AIDS, stands as a landmark moment in the history of the fight against AIDS stigma. During a time when homophobia was rampant and the majority of mainstream society silent on the devastation of the AIDS crisis, Tammy Faye’s interview with Pieters was revolutionary.
Jessica Chastain’s portrayal of this conversation in the film “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” captured the emotional depth and historical significance of the moment, bringing renewed attention to modern audiences.
