🎶 Queens of the Stone Age released their second studio album "Rated R" on June 6, 2000. It peaked at #16 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. Two singles were released, "The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret", and "Feel Good Hit of the Summer".
Producers: Chris Goss, Joshua Homme
Engineers: Bradley Cook, Martin Schmelzle, Trina Shoemaker
Steve Huey from AllMusic said "Rated R is mellower, trippier, and more arranged than its predecessor, making its point through warm fuzz-guitar tones, ethereal harmonies, vibraphones, horns, and even the odd steel drum. It's still got the vaunted Arizona-desert vibes of Kyuss, but it evokes a more relaxed, spacious, twilight feel, as opposed to a high-noon meltdown.

Slipknot released their third studio album "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses" on May 25, 2004. It was their first album that didn't warrant a Parental Advisory label, mainly because the lyrics compared to other Slipknot albums, were much less explicit in terms of profanity and obscure dark themes.
Band members had promised a more experimental album', drummer Joey Jordison said, "it's almost as if Slayer was tapping on Radiohead".
Entertainment Weekly wrote that the album "[bounced] between over-powering speed-metal and haunting acoustic rock".
Five singles were released between May 2004-January 2006: "Duality", "Vermillion", "Vermillion Pt.2", "Before I Forget", "The Nameless", and "The Blister Exists". It peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart one week after it was released.
*RIAA-certified: Platinum
*Producer: Rick Rubin
*Recorded at: The Mansion, Akademie Mathematique of Philosophical Sound Research, and Sound City.

Let's honor him by enjoying another great recording he produced. 38 Special "Strength in Numbers" was their seventh studio album. Garbage was here around this time back in May 2004 working on their "Bleed Like Me" album. Butch Vig had ran into Dave Grohl a few months before and asked him if he would be interested in making a guest appearance on the album and play drums on the song "Bad Boyfriend" as Butch was unsatisfied with the existing drum tracks.
NME: GARBAGE’s SHIRLEY MANSON talks working with DAVE GROHL, “I love Dave Grohl with a passion…”
In a new interview with NME discussing the reissue of Garbage’s 2005 album “Bleed Like Me,” Manson recalled how Grohl drumming on their song “Bad Boyfriend” helped the band in what was otherwise a difficult time.
“Dave Grohl is the most incredible expanse of joy that you can hope to meet as a human being. Him stepping in and playing on ‘Bad Boyfriend’ was a big boost to the male members of the band,” she said. “He was a really good friend with Butch [Vig, drummer], of course, through their work with Nirvana [Vig produced ‘Nevermind’]. I had very little to do with it, but I had very little to do with the members of the band at this point. That’s the eternal loneliness of being the only female in a male band, but that’s a whole other story.”
Manson continued, “I love Dave Grohl with a passion, as does the world. He’s really something. He came in and bolstered the flagging spirits of my male counterparts and sprinkled his fairy dust on our record. We have that for all eternity.”
The album reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart, and No. 2 on the European 100 Albums chart, w/featured singles, "Why Do You Love Me", "Bleed Like Me", "Sex Is Not the Enemy", & "Run Baby Run".
Released: April 11, 2005
Producers: Garbage, Butch Vig, John King
