🏙️ Within the Filipino OFW community in the Middle East, the denim-clad, gold-necklace-wearing middle-aged man has become a familiar image, so much so that it has even become a usual punchline in Pinoy humor. While the “Tito from Saudi” archetype remains an essential part of the Filipino diaspora’s narrative in the UAE, a shift is evident in Dubai. Prolific poet and photographer, Danabelle Gutierrez, introduces us to a new breed of OFWs who have found a home for their art and creativity. 🎨

Our Pinoy artists are thriving in the desert—and this is no mirage.

October is Filipino American History month! 🇵🇭🇺🇸 We celebrate this month to commemorate the first Filipinos that arrived in the U.S. in 1857.

We stand on the shoulders of all the Filipino Americans who came before us, especially of those who fought for our rights and place in this country.

Happy Filipino American History month!! ✨🫡

English ispowkening dollar ba ang anak o pamangkin mo? KAKA-BLIPPI AT PEPPA PIG NIYO YAN! 😂

Read our latest piece about the growing number of English-speaking Pinoy kids (and we’re not just talking about the privileged youngsters from exclusive subdivisions here). Writer and nanay, Rona Co, explores the possible roots of this present trend and its potential consequences on the future of our national language.

Whether it’s your own children, their classmates at school or someone else’s kid at the grocery store, we’ve been hearing a lot of Pinoy children speaking more in English and less in their native tongue. We explore this current trend among Filipino kids and its possible roots and probable cons...

When he was still a volunteer teacher to Lumad children, Chad Booc eloquently wrote a 2019 Facebook post about the significant and deeper meaning behind the traditional burial of the Lumads. And despite the tragic death of this young activist more than a year ago, we wish to keep these beautiful words of his alive by turning them into our second Words That Animate.

Through our own small way, our humble platform also honors Chad Booc’s memory by declaring him as our newest Badass Influencer. After watching this video, go to www.hirayamedia.com to read more about Booc’s legacy of fighting for and protecting the history, dignity, and sacred roots of our indigenous people.

Hiraya Media would like to sincerely thank the Booc Family for allowing us to do this tribute for Chad.
