Garret Price is the director of the recent Yacht Rock documentary. In researching the story, he heard from the artists featured that The Mellow Sound of KNX/FM 93 in Los Angeles was a major contributor to the music's success. So, those of us who are keeping The Mellow Sound available via our worldwide stream were happy to sit down on camera to help fill out the story. Authentically playing on our full time tribute to the very first Soft Rock radio station, KNX FM 93 in Los Angeles circa 1973-1983, Lauren Wood's song Fallen gained mainstream popularity in 1990 thanks to being featured on the Pretty Woman soundtrack. The truth is however, Fallen first received play on KNX FM 93 upon its original release in 1981, some 9 years earlier and instantly became a discerning Mellow Sound listener favorite, remaining in regular play on the station. Today Lauren Wood's Fallen plays just as it did back in the day in full rotation on themellowsound.net. You'll even hear Lauren personally introducing her song. Emmylou Harris is one of those artists who embraces a variety of material like songs from Lennon/McCartney, Shel Silverstein, Rusty Young (of Poco), Rodney Crowell and more. Bonnie Raitt has always been a favorite since her first albums. And slings a mean slide Stratocaster We spin 'em everyday.

The guys out of Missouri made some of the coolest mellow country rock. Great songs from Steve Cash and Larry Lee with fine harmony earned them a place on KNX/FM 93 in the day and they are still spinning on TheMellowSound.net. Listen for Jackie Blue, Watermill, You Know Like I Know and more along with Larry Lee's solo tracks like Just Another Girlfriend and Don't Talk.
