We're here to Raise our Voices for PEACE, BEAUTY, and the TRANSFORMATION of nuclear science at Los Alamos Laboratories to LIFE-SUSTAINING science rather than life-destroying science. There were 30 of us in 2012, and our story helped raise awareness for 100,000 to 150,000 listeners/readers. rld, we are staging a globally-coordinated Hunger Strike to end the atomic age and in its place create a world of beauty, peace, and justice. With this strike intend to change the nuclear narrative in the public consciousness and help to create a sustainable, life-affirming future. Our action will be in concert with Occupy New Mexico, NukeFreeNow, and other groups who are together creating Events and Actions around the world. The small town of Los Alamos is ground zero of nuclear weapons research and manufacture, but you don't need to come here to make your Voice heard. Wherever you are, we will be coordinating Strikers and Strike dates to create maximum national and international impact, using the Strikers to create publicity and awareness of the Hiroshima Commemoration Events, and using the Events and Strikers together to transform the narrative in newspapers, television, and the web, and change the deadly direction our "leaders" think we should take. Hunger strikes are powerful non-violent weapons. Not only can we raise awareness worldwide of the danger and folly of nuclear and conventional war, but we can make a strong stand concerning many related issues: environmental justice, wealth inequality, corruption, the insanity of the Military-Industrial machine, education, health & safety, the list goes on. It's inspiring that individuals and groups from around the globe can join our Voices together to make our statements for safety and peace as powerful as possible. Wherever you are is perfect and you are in the right spot to help. Your demand can be whatever you deem most appropriate for your local situation. In Los Alamos our demand will be that the director of the Lab, Charles MacMillan, meet and listen to representatives of branches of science that support and sustain life, and participate in a discussion regarding what a transformation to life-positive sciences would look like in Los Alamos. Finally, if you are unable to join the Strikers, please help us find people who are. And consider becoming instead a facilitator or coordinator. Spread the word in your community about the Occupy's Commemoration Event from August 3-7, the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. If you can't join us in Los Alamos, then hold your own Hiroshima and Nagasaki Commemoration event. Together we can inspire our fellow citizens to resist the madness and create the beautiful world we know is possible.
