August 26th is National Dog Day! 🐶 That’s right! Celebrate your four-legged friend because today is their day! 💛 It’s also a time to remember all the dogs who are in the shelters and rescues that need a fur-ever home. 🏡 🐾 ✨
Adopt your next pet by visiting Long Beach Animal Care Services at: longbeach.gov/ACS. It’s the last week to help ACS ‘Clear the Shelters.’ Adopt a dog 25 lbs and over for $25 or take home a kitten for $9. Adoption fees will be waived from August 29th to August 31st.

The City of Long Beach and Long Beach Parks, Recreation & Marine introduced its newest fleet beach tech cleaning equipment. Each year, thousands of tons of debris is removed from our beaches to make the coastline more enjoyable and safer for beach goers.
Equipment includes four vehicles that operate throughout Rosie’s Dog Beach, areas of Bayshore, the Peninsula and Junipero and Alamitos Beaches.

🎉Long Beach City marked the completion of the MacArthur Park Rehabilitation Project with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
The event celebrated more than a year of dedicated work to enhance the park’s sports courts, green spaces, picnic areas, and playground, transforming it into a vibrant and inspiring gathering place for the District 6 community.
Many of the park’s new amenities were made possible through the collaboration with local organizations and community groups, whose input helped shape the Vision Plan that guided its rehabilitation. These improvements are designed to enhance recreational opportunities and create vibrant gathering spaces for residents of all ages.

On July 26, 2025, the City of Long Beach celebrated the re-opening of McArthur Park. As part of the Elevate 28’ Initiative, this project included upgrades to the playground, picnic spaces, pathways, sports and fitness areas and much more.

The Video Communications Division, which manages LBTV, is a division of the Technology and Innovation Department of the City of Long Beach. In addition to producing original content, the Video Communications Division is also responsible for handling customer cable complaints and insures that the work performed by the cable provider is satisfactory.
