I am working to gather stories but I'm specifically looking for Christmas stories. Does anyone have a favorite Christmas In Appalachia story?

Happy Dedication Day to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park!

82 years ago today Franklin Delano Roosevelt stood at Newfound Gap in the Smoky Mountains and dedicated the National Park "for the permanent enjoyment of the people". The formation of a National Park in the Smokies changed lives in many ways. Many people lost their land and a way of life they'd known for centuries as a new way of life forged the way to the future.

Today over 14 million people visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park each year. Visit the Museum of East Tennessee History in the East Tennessee History Center and learn more about the people who once called the GSMNP home.

We're open 9:00am to 4:00pm throughout the week, from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Saturdays and from 1:00pm to 5:00pm by donation on Sundays.
