The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a

* Snow Squall Warning for...
Northern Wabash County in north central Indiana...
White County in northwestern Indiana...
Fulton County in north central Indiana...
Pulaski County in northwestern Indiana...
Southwestern Kosciusko County in north central Indiana...
Cass County in north central Indiana...
Miami County in north central Indiana...
Southern Starke County in northwestern Indiana...
Southern Marshall County in north central Indiana...

* Until 1115 AM EST/1015 AM CST/.

* At 1009 AM EST/909 AM CST/, a dangerous snow squall was located
along a line extending from Bourbon to 7 miles east of Winamac to
Brook, moving southeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow. Gusty winds leading to
blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility. Wind gusts
greater than 35 mph.

SOURCE...Radar and webcams.

IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous
within minutes.

This includes Interstate 65 between mile markers 185 and 198.

Locations impacted include...
Logansport, Peru, Wabash, Rochester, North Manchester, Monticello,
Winamac, Bourbon, Monon, North Judson, Argos, Brookston, Culver,
Akron, Walton, Wolcott, Mentone, Francesville, Royal Center, and
Medaryville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are
expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden
whiteout conditions.

..Deteriorating Conditions This Morning...

A band of snow showers across northeast Illinois will sink
southeast into northwest Indiana this morning. The combination of
this snow and wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph will lead to rapid drops
in visibilities, with visibilities briefly reduced to one half
mile or less at times in the stronger bands of snow. In addition,
a strong cold front dropping southeast will result in temperatures
dropping into the mid and upper 20s by early afternoon. The
combination of light snow accumulations of one half inch to an
inch and these falling temperatures will likely lead to some slick
spots on roadways. Motorists should exercise caution and be
prepared for rapid changes in travel conditions across short
distances.

..Area of Snow Creating Reduced Visibility and Slick Roadway
Conditions Tonight...

A pocket of moderate to heavy snow continues to push from west to
east late this evening. Visibility is being reduced to 1/4 mile
at times and traffic/plow cameras under this heavy snow show that
it is sticking to roadways. Accumulations are expected to be
around 1 inch.

This area of snow is expected to impact the I-69 corridor by
11pm-12am EST. Motorists should slow down and allow themselves
plenty of extra time.

..Snow Creating Reduced Visibility...'

An intense area of snow is expected to move through from southwest
to northeast tonight reducing visibility down to 1 mile or less.
Snow accumulations may struggle to occur on roadways initially,
but as we get back towards midnight or 1 am, accumulations may
become more possible. Accumulations on grassy areas are more
likely and may get up to around 1 inch in this initial batch of
snow.

If you encounter these reduced areas of visibility, be sure to
increase following distance, slow down and ensure your low beam
headlights are on.
