Suitemates Publishing Company

Suitemates Publishing Company was established in
2008 as the brain-child of Tina Christiansen and
Susan Lindsley, who went to college together. As
the adoptive parent of a young girl from China, Tina
wanted her daughter’s story told. Not finding
enough stories showcasing international adoption,
Tina and Susan created Maya’s Journal Home. As
the story progressed, they discussed how to get th

e
story published, and then there was the question of
the artwork. Wendy Cannon also had gone to
college with them and was an artist in her own right. They approached her with the idea of doing the
illustrations for the book and after reading the story,
she agreed. Eager to publish their book and share
their story with others, they founded Suitemates
Publishing and soon Maya’s Journey Home was
born. Through grass roots publicity and many local
school author visits, Maya’s Journey Home was
enjoyed by many. Suitemates Publishing is now looking
forward to the release of its next picture book,
