A Thanksgiving Stirred with Love, Laughter, and a Little Bit of Cheese!
Thanksgiving at the RP household? Let's just say it's less about Norman Rockwell and more about organized chaos with a whole lot of heart.
This year, the day unfolded like a delicious recipe with each family member adding their own unique flavor. My youngest, Reyansh (RJ), reminded me that special moments are often hidden in plain sight. He was in his element, carefully measuring flour and sugar, his brow furrowed in concentration as he baked his first batch of cookies all by himself! My wonderful husband, G, embraced his role as sous chef, offering a helping hand to RJ whenever needed, all while keeping an eye on the football game. (Apparently, even Thanksgiving calls for a bit of sports entertainment!)
But the real showstopper came virtually from Dallas! My amazing eldest son, PJ, who couldn't make it home this year, wowed us with his culinary skills. He crafted an incredible lasagna, a masterpiece layered with flavors from across the globe. And to top it off, he shared a virtual slice with us via FaceTime, making the distance feel a little less far.
Of course, no Thanksgiving is complete without Ammamma (GrandMa). She's the master orchestrator, the one who keeps everything running smoothly while somehow managing to make it all look effortless.
And then there's me, the lady of the house. Confession time: I started the day with the noble intention of doing absolutely nothing but enjoying the fruits (and pies) of everyone else's labor. But the guilt of my own laziness eventually crept in, so I whipped up a batch of spicy baked cheese pasta – my contribution to the feast and my attempt to appease the culinary gods.
So, what's the moral of this story of Thanksgiving madness? I think it's simple: everyone contributes to the magic in their own way. Whether it's baking cookies, lending a hand in the kitchen, orchestrating a global feast, or simply providing the comic relief (that's me!), we all play a part in keeping our family happy and ourselves occupied. And even when distance separates us, love and technology find a way to bring us together.
From the RP family to yours, we wish you a Thanksgiving filled with warm cookies, layered lasagna, spicy pasta, and most importantly, the love and laughter of those you hold dear. Happy Thanksgiving!
