siasts were instrumental in propelling the “crate digging” and “reprint label” subculture that unearths rare soul music (such as previously unreleased, alternate take, cover and extended versions). Jadestone Vintage Soul is a unique opportunity for listeners to hear an eclectic mix of disco, afrobeat, gospel funk, jazz fusion, neo-soul, boogie, breakbeat, blues, hip hop, reggae, Blaxploitation soundtrack, and ’60/’70s protest music that defies the typically 90-minute long playlists of commercial radio stations that focuses on playing “hit” music tracks repetitively. Punctuated by fun husband-wife discussions about the artists and the music. Hosted by Baba and Iya Cratediggers, with their three children as occasional guests (their one-year old, Lorne the "Jazzy Leo," is actually billed as the show's Creative Director)
Each episode of Jadestone Vintage Soul is itself rare and unique, in that the Jadestone Vintage Soul show playlist encompasses more than 25,000 songs (including, but not limited to, the ENTIRE catalogs the Stax/Volt labels, the Curtom label, the Hi label, the Motown/Tamla labels, the Chess label, the Goldwax label, the Philadelphia International/TSOP labels, the Shout label, the Brunswick label, the Soul Train/SOLAR labels, the Philly Groove label and the Salsoul label) to insure that listeners are able to listen to each and every episode for months at a time and never hear the same song played twice.
