About Us
Multi-Grammy-nominated producers, Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland, partners of Think Loud Studios, have spent years establishing their reputation as a powerful production team, particularly in the rock and metal genres. Since 2012, they have become renowned as producers and mix engineers for their consistent quality output and efficient workflow among regional and national artists alike. After founding and operating Atrium Audio, a successful boutique studio in Lancaster, PA, the two permanently relocated operations to Think Loud Studios in York, PA, a residential facility built and co-owned by members of the multi-platinum veteran rock band LIVE.
Slovak and McFarland have engineered, produced and mixed music for many notable bands, including; August Burns Red, Candlebox, Everclear, LIVE, From Ashes To New, Galactic Empire, Lorna Shore, Summer Scouts, A Wake In Providence, Carousel Kings, Polaris, Texas In July, Black Crown Initiate, Throw The Fight, This or the Apocalypse, Sirens & Sailors, Affiance, I The Breather, My Heart To Fear, Rivers of Nihil, and The Last Ten Seconds of Life. They have worked with labels including Fearless Records, Eleven Seven, Equal Vision, eOne Music, Bullet Tooth, Artery, Razor & Tie, Sumerian Records, SolidState Records, Victory Records, Metal Blade Records, Universal Music Group, Caroline, Kobalt and Rise Records.
The August Burns Red album “Found In Far Away Places,” which Slovak and McFarland produced, engineered, and mixed, debuted in the Billboard 200 Top Ten and was nominated for Best Metal Performance in the 2016 Grammy Awards. August Burns Red was again nominated for a Grammy in 2018 for the song “Invisible Enemy” off the album Phantom Anthem, which Slovak and McFarland also produced, engineered and mixed. The first single “Crazy” off From Ashes To New’s album The Future is on track to break the Top Ten on Billboard’s Active Rock charts.
Slovak and McFarland teamed up to form the galaxy’s foremost instrumental Star Wars cosplay heavy metal John Williams tribute band. Their joke music video in 2016 was a viral hit, gaining over 8 million views with national press coverage including Huffington Post, Guitar World, Entertainment Weekly, and MSNBC, and a live TV performance on E! Entertainment during their coverage of the 2016 Academy Awards. The band went on to release two full-length albums with Rise Records (both produced and mixed by Slovak and McFarland) and headline several national and European tours, including appearances at Download Festival, Graspop Festival, and many others.
