Another first for GCH CH Birch Bark Chiseled Rock MH "Rocky" and Dr. Cartrell D Cooper… they got a Group 4 on Sunday and I was so excited to be there to see it!! ♥️

I may have let out a little gasp and shed a few tears when I heard the judge say “the Chesapeake Bay Retriever.” I’m so proud of what Cooper has done with Rocky. They are a great team, and I’m so very grateful. It’s been a fun journey. 🐾 🏅

Finally got Rocky's BOB photo from last weekend's show in Fargo ND. He's still so new to the ring with us really focusing on hunt tests and now field trial training, but he and Cartrell D Cooper did great their third time out together.

Rocky enjoyed his time at field trial training with Dynamic Retrievers in south Texas, but he was jumping for joy to be running marks and blinds again with Curt. He’s once again Minnesota bound. Video in comments.

We get a lot of questions about what Rocky's offspring look like and how they are doing. We've been very selective about who we've allowed to use Rocky as a stud, and we waited until after he was a Master Hunter and had all of the appropriate genetic and OFA clearances.

The first litter Rocky sired was bred by Craig Klein. We are fortunate that one of the puppy families has kept in touch with us. "Moose" was born early January 2024 and we are so excited to watch him grow up.

In honor of National Puppy Day, I wrote a blog post with some pictures and video of Moose.

Rocky and Cartrell Cooper spent the weekend in DesMoines and came home with a Best of Breed under Dr. Troy Clifford Dargin and a Select the day before under Ms. Shelley Miller. Rocky made fast friends with Mr. Cooper, but of course was happy to be with his family when the show was over.

Soon it will be time to head south for some warmer weather and field trial training. He'll be happy to see his friends the Springers who handled him to Master Hunter last summer and helped him and Curt prepare for their first field trial last fall.
