An armed woman was fatally shot last night near downtown North Branch by the NBPD. The investigation is ongoing.

A report of an intoxicated person armed with a handgun in the area of Elm Street and Third Avenue in North Branch ended with the suspect fatally wounded by one of two responding officers.

GIANT SLAYERS!!

The North Branch softball team, who finished the regular season 5-13 and were seeded sixth in the Section 7AAA tournament, went 4-0 in the postseason, beating the first, second, third and fifth seeds en route to the section title and state berth!!

Congraulations Wildcats, and good luck at True Team state!

Congratulations to the Girls Track and Field Team, they earned the title of Section 7AA True Team Champions in Hibbing yesterday! They will compete in the True Team State Meet in Stillwater on Saturday, May 18th at 4pm. Way to go Cats and best of luck!

The Chisago Lakes High School Boys Basketball Boosters team punched their ticket to the state tournament for the first time since 2016 tonight!!

The avenged their regular season loss to Hermantown in the Section 7AAA finals, beating the Hawks 95-82. Congratulations boys!!!

The Wildcats will open the state tournament at some point on Wednesday, March 20 at Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota.

Chisago Lakes Wrestling Logan Bender claims the Class AA Heavyweight crown!!!

The junior had a major decision and two falls on his way to the championship match where he beat top ranked Grady Minnerath of Rocori 8-4.

Congratulations to Patrick Rowe, who passed Ben Figini (left) as the all time leading scorer in Chisago Lakes Boys Basketball history against St. Francis earlier tonight. Figini's mark of 1,741 points stood for 12 years until Rowe's three pointer in the first half tonight, and the former Wildcat was on hand to celebrate the moment with Rowe.

A Harris woman faces two DUI charges after allegedly crashing a Rush City school bus into a farm field on Thursday morning. There were no injuries reported among the 49 children on the bus.

The driver of a Rush City school bus carrying 49 students, which went off the road about 8:30 a.m. Thursday Feb 15, has been charged. Kara Ffrench, 59, of Harris, was in court Friday, February 16 to face two gross misdemeanors, one alleging DWI commercial vehicle and DWI driving school bus. Her next...
