Just got some cute gifts for this weeks show. The cute felted mice will go quickly but I’ve got a bunch of holiday ones too. Felt a little crafty and embellished the little buckets to complete the cottage core look that’s on current trend. Looking forward to seeing you Thursday 😍

Everyone’s already getting a jump on December’s show and I’m here sitting on the couch trying to take a day off for once but still feeling anxious since ‘Ol Manic Mary is borrowing a third booth this month to clear out the ridiculous amount of Christmas inventory I have 🙈 Maybe it will inspire me to get some of my personal stash out as well. Maybe while I watch these terrible movies Hulu keeps recommending I can block out my new temporary area. Looking forward to it. I can finally stretch out a little so it won’t be a one butt booth next month 🤣

I’m wondering how much the fine is if I paint my house purple. Although the HOA can’t say what the inside looks like 🤣🖤 maybe I’ll just paint the Barbie house instead. Less time consuming. But swoon that’s an amazing purple.

Remember when I told you I grossly overestimated the amount of inventory I needed for our show? Yeah this was at midnight with one day left to prep before the busiest show of the year begins 🤪 I haven’t seen my husband in days and every time I think it’s getting better it’s still just as bad as when I started. I have 6 empty boxes. There were originally 32 in total. So as you can see things are going great. See you Thursday!

My bestie had a yard sale last week. I really wanted this monk wall hanging for my booth but I knew it was such a unique piece it would take a long time to sell. Apparently I was dead wrong. It was the first thing to sell and three more customers came hoping to snag it. Guess I won’t make that mistake again. Should have grabbed the giant rosary too but I already have one and don’t think I’d have been able to sell such a fascinating piece. Ya snooze ya lose 🤷🏼‍♀️

I love pink trees but this year I’m going black. Can’t wait to see the ornaments pop. If you know me you know I love themed trees. I have probably 20 not including ceramic. Each one a different color one is grinch another Olaf one covered in snow babies. They’re all fun and fabulous but wait till you see the trees we’ll have for you next week. 🖤🖤🖤

Went to the Bay this week for a concert and stopped at one of our lovely vendors home. Her son gave me a ride back from the city. Turns out he lives in the well known former recording studio of one of the members of Tony! Toni! Toné! Here’s a few blurbs about some of the history.

I knew when I saw the gate it wasn’t just art it was a part of history that I knew but couldn’t recall. It wasn’t a fancy studio so only the gate is really what remains of such a historic piece of hip hop history.

Oh to have been a fly on the wall as Alicia keys played piano. Did Bey ever walk the staircase? Did a young Zendaya get snacks from the fridge? What a lovely piece of history and I can’t wait to see what he does with the place. The guy has some serious talent with home building.

Anyway, here’s more about the studio that once was.

Wiggins opened his West Oakland recording studio House of Music, where he produced and helped grow young artists who would become some of today’s brightest young stars, including Zendaya, H.E.R., Kehlani and even Destiny’s Child: he signed the group to his label Grass Roots Entertainment in 1994, back when they were known as Girls’ Tyme. He’s also worked with some of the biggest names in Bay Area hip-hop, including Too Short, Messy Marv and The Coup.

Wiggins established Grass Roots Entertainment located in his West Oakland recording studio, “House of Music”. Also in 1995, D’wayne Wiggins developed and signed Destiny's Child to Grass Roots Entertainment. The group went on to become a powerhouse of female performers and the best-selling girl group of all time. He worked with the group through three albums, which have collectively sold more than 15 million copies. He also worked with artist Keyshia Cole, who resided in the “House of Music” from 1999 to 2001. Cole was mentored and received guidance from Wiggins during that time and went on to sign with A&M Records. He also worked with Laurneá of Arrested Development on her release Laurnea II and collaborated with Jody Watley. His “House of Music” was patronized by artists such as Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, India.Arie, Keyshia Cole, Jamie Foxx, Eddie Money and producer Scott Storch.

D’wayne Wiggins: Grass Roots Entertainment was a company I formed in 1995. Before that, it was called Boom Town, that was formed in 1990. I produced a number of groups and production around the Bay Area. One of my favorites was Kenya Gruv, a group that had a song on the Menace to Society movie called “Top Of The World.” We call it the hit that never was. At the time I was learning a lot about labels and producing. As Grass Roots, I had the honor of working with Alicia Keys in my studio called House of Music, which was in a Victorian home located in Lower Bottoms Oakland. Alicia had this raw vibe about her and she was hella-self- driven. I like her powerful demeanor and I could tell she made her own decisions and felt like “I’m gonna change some stereotypes.” We did some dope jam sessions and she opened up another side of me in the studio, that edgy side that you could lose in the R&B thing. That’s a good woman! I developed Keyshia Cole, who lived inside the studio for a few years. It was more like family mentoring and production with Keyshia; that’s my girl. We had the craziest times. She also used to work at my café called Jahva House and I always knew this young lady had it! Like I said, I was a fan of these artists as well. I loved seeing the passion in their eyes, even to this day when I see them in the world doing their thing. I feel incredibly proud, like I always knew, and there is a God.
