Our page in FB is designed to guide you to our daily publications. We will not report news on FB, but will provide friends with headlines and links to stories so that they may visit Lincoln Daily News and read all the latest information from Lincoln and Logan County. Examples of this may be links to new

postings in our classifieds sections, reminders of items listed on our community calendar pages, and we may also choose to highlight from time to time one or more of our advertisers or section sponsors. Because we are an online publication, a small firm, and always busy, we will not be a constant presence on our page. We will check the page one to two times per day; will add daily updates in the mornings on a regular basis, and will also add updates during the day if we have new or breaking news to report. We all know that FB is a great place for friends to interact with one another, and we welcome the opportunity to get to know our readers and have them get to know us. There are a few things that we respectfully request our friends not do on FB. FB is not the place for you to send us leads on interesting stories or events. Because we are not constantly on FB, your lead could go several hours without being noted, and we could miss the opportunity to follow up. If you have a piece of news you’d like to share, or a lead to an interesting story you think everyone would enjoy, please continue to send that information to our Managing Editor at [email protected]. If you have a special event coming up, we encourage you to post that in our Community Calendar. Go to our Community page in Lincoln Daily News and click on “submit an entry for LDN calendar of events". The page is easy to fill out, plus it is viewed by a person on our staff before it is posted, so if your information is unclear, someone will contact you before it is posted. Lincoln Daily News is humbled by the number of local advertisers we have in our daily editions. We have advertising throughout our paper that ranges from small ads in individual stories, to sponsorships of special sections. Our FB page is not the best place to tell our advertising staff you might be interested in joining our long list of local advertisers. If you are interested in promoting your business in Lincoln Daily News we encourage you to contact our Director of Advertising; Karen Hargis. Karen has years of experience in advertising and can help you design an ad that will fit your needs and your budget. You can contact Karen by emailing [email protected].

At the Tuesday night voting session of the Logan County Board, members approved a motion for the expenses to be incurred in removing the large steel I-beams and scaffolding from the Logan County Courthouse starting July 4th

Board member Jim Wessbecher said that the last time the scaffolding was scheduled to be removed the weather predictions of severe storms stopped the process. Currently he is hopeful that this time the weather will cooperate.

A large crane will be moved into town and the beams will be taken off the dome. If the weather forecast is not favorable, the crane will not come and the project will be delayed again.

Wessbecher was asked about the rent for the scaffolding and he said that the county stopped paying rent on the scaffolding as soon as the project was pronounced done. Therefore, it is not costing extra for the delays.

The board approved work starting on the 4th of July and running through July 7th, but Wessbecher said it could take less time if all goes well.

In spite of the warm temperatures, the Humane Society of Logan County saw a large turnout at their annual Route 66 Garage Sale preview Night at the Logan County Fairgrounds. Once again this year, preview night game bargain hungry shoppers an opportunity to get a head start on the weekend of garage sales in Lincoln.

The yellow door barn at the south end of the fairgrounds was filled with great merchandise ready for grabbing. All the items in the sale have been donated to the HSLC and all the proceeds from the sale will go to support the work of the group as they strive to protect animals in their no-kill shelter in Lincoln, while hoping to find each one the perfect home.

Thursday evening the Lincoln and Logan County community turned out in force to show its support for the Logan Correctional Center. The evening began with a rally and march starting at the Logan County Courthouse on the south side lawn. A few hundred people then marched, chanting “What do we want?” “Logan CC!” “Where do we want it?” “Logan County.” The march ended at Lincoln Junior High School in the 200 block of Broadway in Lincoln. At the junior high, the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability hosted a public hearing. The junior high gymnasium was filled with people there to show support and speak to state officials about the strong desire and need to keep Logan Correctional Center in Logan County.

LDN’s Matt Boutcher was there for the entire night and will bring a complete report in a future edition of Lincoln Daily News.

Starting next week, the Lincoln and Logan County community will be invaded by several hundred teenagers. Workcamp for Lincoln is returning to the area for the second time and will include hundreds of kids with their leaders and chaperones working to improve homes in the community.

The program includes an application process where homeowners express their need as well as an inability to do the work on their own. The applications that are approved will be assigned a team of teens who will then perform those needed repairs or upgrades.

The last time the Workcamp for Lincoln was in town was 2021. The kids did projects from installing new doors, painting, building wheelchair ramps and much more.
