The team and I had the honor of capturing Meredith and Dan’s incredibly beautiful wedding day last weekend! Their wedding venue @millfalls is nestled right on Lake Winnipesaukee- PERFECT for a mid summer wedding!
We could not have asked for a better day on the lake! It was a beautiful + sunny day but not too hot!! We started the day with some photos of the bride and groom getting ready and then met outside by the docks for Mere and Dan to share their first look! Their sweet pup Oakley was a part of ALL the celebrations ✨
During the ceremony things were made official + the new Smiths were ready to celebrate! After a gorgeous cocktail hour on the lawn guests made their way inside where they enjoyed live music and found very thoughtful hand written notes from M + D at their seat. The evening wrapped up with golden hour photos + a party on the dance floor!
Congratulations to the Smiths! 🥂

Okay friends, you asked + I delivered ✨
Lupine season has come and gone- I feel like this was the best year yet! Have I seen more blooms in the past? Sure. This year we had the best conditions though! Perfect light just about every day, rainbows, clouds with drama and alpenglow (my favorite 🤩)

Three tips for your White Mountain engagement photoshoot✨
1️⃣ be prepared for any type of weather conditions: I cannot tell you how many times I’ve shown up to a session in the notch where the weather was predicted to be perfect and clear but in reality there were brutal winds and/or a random storm! When this happens we have two options: embrace the elements or go to a different location just outside of the notch. You can help prepare yourself to embrace the elements by bringing layers, a jacket, an umbrella of your choice and a few different shoe options!
2️⃣ depending on the location of your session golden hour can happen anywhere from 1-2.5 hours before actual sunset. Locations like Crawford notch tend to have an earlier golden hour because the mountains are so tall. This also means that blue hour sets in a little earlier at this location ☺️
3️⃣ Make it personal! You can have a picnic or share your favorite beverages on a mountain top. Bring your jeep or your pup! 🐶 bring both for best results 🥹

Okay! Obviously I am tired at the end of a wedding night, I work my butt off all day long to make sure that we capture the best possible photos on your best day ever BUT I also feel super emotional about the fact that this chapter is “ending.” I truly love getting to know all of the couples that I work with- we spend SO much time together- chatting about wedding visions, meeting up for engagement photos, rooting for each other on social media and so much more 🥺 Some couples stay in close contact with me throughout the years (and I LOVE that so so much) and sometimes I never hear from couples again (for various reasons like they live far away, have stepped away from social media, etc.)
Anyways, just thought I’d publicly share that sometimes I’m sad after weddings in case anyone else feels the same way 😅

Planning your wedding step four: book your vendors!!
Now that your budget is set and venue is booked it’s time to book your other vendors! If there are some vendors you already know you HAVE to have on your wedding day reach out to them asap! Maybe even once you let your venue know you’re ready for a contract start sending out inquiries. A lot of wedding vendors take weddings on a first come first serve basis- key wedding dates in August, September and October tend to book quickly. If you’re getting married during that busy wedding season I recommend booking your vendors at least 18 months in advance. Vendors will require a signed contract and retainer payment to officially consider a date booked.
If you reach out to someone you were really hoping to work with but they aren’t available you can always ask if they have any recommendations. A lot of photographers/videographers are familiar with each other and can try to recommend a good fit based on your needs!

There a lot of things to factor into creating a photo timeline for your wedding day. Most importantly the photographer that you hired for your wedding day will be able to tell you what works best for them. My couples get a sample timeline in the wedding guide I send out and once their wedding day timeline is made I let them know what makes the most sense for a photo timeline. Here’s a timeline that has worked well for me this year! With so many weddings in November + December I’m really starting to get used to the early sunset and how that plays into the wedding day.
Sample photo timeline for a winter wedding(November-March) - keep in mind this is created based on my experience as a wedding photographer in New England 😊
