Thank you, Mary Sue! Today marks Mary Sue's last day recording the New York Times for us after 15 years and over 1200 hours of dedicated service.

Mary Sue recently started volunteering with Frontier Nursing, acting in simulations to help students practice procedures and patient interactions before they begin working with actual patients. While she may return to Radio Eye for occasional recordings in the future, Mary Sue is excited to be able to put substantial time into another cause that is closer to home. We wish her the absolute best in her new endeavor!

You may recall our post from late May when the Herald-Leader announced its transition to print publication only on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, starting August 5. After consideration, the necessary changes to our programming schedule will be as follows:

Monday through Saturday, the 9:30am and 10am programming will move to 8 and 8:30am, with the Herald-Leader broadcast at 9am and sports to follow at 10am. The days that the Herald Leader is not published, we will read national news from the Washington Post instead. Our new reading schedule will begin on July 29 to give our readers time to adjust. Listeners, volunteers, and Radio Eye supporters - the staff and board are deliberating as to how this will affect our programming schedule and will announce any changes.

In case you missed it, the Herald-Leader announced this morning that they are moving to a Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday print publication schedule, effective August 5.

Editor: ‘We must be more strategic.’ In response to readers’ changing habits and efforts to move closer to economic stability, the Herald-Leader will reduce print editions to Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday with the US Postal Service delivering the newspapers.
