Going to try and get in the habit of taking a drone with me to and from work, and have a “small” kit at the ready at all times to get out for more spontaneous flights.

Today I spent my lunch break flying around the Town Branch Trail Construction along Old Frankfort Pike here in Lexington, KY. S Forbes Road had been closed for three weeks, and just reopened today.

S Forbes Road in Lexington, KY reopened on Tuesday, July 13 after a three week closure for work related to the Town Branch Trail project.

Pace Contracting wrapped up construction on Town Branch Commons Zone 7 back in the fall. This project completed a new trail segment connecting Main St to 4th along Newtown Pike. CKY Imaging had the pleasure of capturing the finished product with drone media services.

I’m looking forward to following their progress on the other zones of Town Branch Commons along Main, Vine, and Midland!

Citation Boulevard bridge over Citation Trail and Bracktown Branch.

Flying around the neighborhood near the new trail that’s being constructed, and remembering when this bridge was being built. One of the jobs I spent quite a bit of time on as a fresh EIT for KYTC Lexington Section Construction.

Short orbit of demo progress downtown at the Central Bank Center. Didn’t make it down there in time to get an angle of the exposed chandeliers, but still looks pretty wild to anyone familiar with this part of town.

First flight with the DJI Mavic Air 2, very excited about adding this machine to the lineup.

Good morning, Lexington. Stopped next to the rail yard off of Leestown Road on my way downtown. Was surprised to see that I needed to keep it under 100’ in this part of town. That’s no problem though, still had some fun.

Happy Engineers Week!
Throwback to a project I did in college for a Railroad Engineering class. Had the opportunity to visit the Bluegrass Scenic Railroad and Museum in Versailles, KY while they were performing some track maintenance. They let me and my group tag along for a few days and taught us all about their process. This machine is used to assist in placing new tie plates. It will clamp to the rail and lift it off of the new tie to allow someone to place a new tie plate. A lot of the work is performed by volunteers that help this non-profit function.
