We surprised Mr. Hamelman with the award today at Rockbridge County High School.

Excited to announce the Terrific Teacher Award presented by the Lexington (Virginia) Farmer's Market.

Each Tuesday we will randomly select a teacher in Rockbridge County that was nominated by our 3WZ and 100.3 The Big Dawg listeners.

How do you nominate a teacher?
Simply tell us their name, their school, and what makes them a terrific teacher right here on Facebook.

And then listen to 96.7 3WZ every Tuesday morning in the 8 o’clock hour to hear if your teacher won. Every Wednesday afternoon we will deliver a gift package from the Lexington Farmers Market to our lucky winner.

Good luck and visit the Lexington Farmers Market downtown every Wednesday between 8 am and 12:30.

I am here to tell you that Rockbridge County has TWO live and local radio stations serving the community!

The two stations (96.7 3WZ & 100.3 The Big Dawg) are owned by First Media Radio and managed by Rockbridge County residents Mark Potter and Heather Hicks.

Both grew up in the Commonwealth and are proud residents of the county. While new to the area, both enjoy bringing a live and local approach the the radio stations designed to support the community!

The 3WZ Morning Show is hosted by Potter and features LOCAL News from the legend Jim Bresnahan, local sports reports every weekday when there was a local sporting event, local weather, interviews with local individuals about people, businesses, and events in the community!

Big Dawg 100’s Morning Show may be hosted outside the area BUT the hosts still talk about local events as well as news, local sports reports, and local weather.

Big Dawg 100 and 96.7 3WZ has been broadcasting and covering Parry McCluer High School and Rockbridge County High School football for many years.

96.7 3WZ also recently announced that they will be back to broadcasting a High School Basketball Game of the Week beginning in December. Games will include both boys and girls basketball games from both County High Schools.

In addition to high school sporting events, 3WZ is your home for VMI Football. You can follow UVA Football and Men’s Basketball on Big Dawg 100.

Both stations can be heard on your radio and can also be streamed live on your phone, tablet, or desktop via the station websites.

Mark and Heather will continue to be out and about at community events. Make sure you stoMain Street Lexington Trick or Treat event with Main Street Lexington. Keep listening to find out where they will be next.
