Severe threat is over for Marshall County. All watches/warnings have been allowed to expire/cancel. Rain will probably linger for a few more hours (until 8-9pm) then it’ll dry out for midnight. Have a safe and happy new year, Marshall County!

We are monitoring the risk of severe weather overnight. This event looks to be in the shape of a line coming through between 9:00pm and 2:00am so be sure you are weather aware. Marshall county is in a “Enhanced” risk (level 3 of 5). Just across 65 is in a “Moderate” risk (level 4 of 5).

SSSC is monitoring the threat for severe storms today. Southern Marshall County is in a Moderate Risk for severe storms, the rest of the county is in a Enhanced risk. This is the greatest threat so far this year, we do not want to alarm anyone, just inform. Just be sure you know your severe safety tips, and stay tuned for more information.

Please send us your snow pictures! 17 degrees right now.. We have around an inch for most parts of the county. Some with more - some with less. The snow will pick up in intensity over the next hour then come to an abrupt end. We could see some sun before the end of the day. We’ve heard of around 10 reported accidents since 6am, stay inside if at all possible.

The frozen precipitation has begun in Marshall County. Well probably see this period of sleet for a small time as more cold pushes in. No worries, it’ll change to all snow and we have plenty of moisture to work with!

OUTDATED INFORMATION - SEE LATEST: As I feared another dry slot has formed in a line which is just over Marshall County (this is why I’ve been reluctant to forecast). Moisture overall has been shrinking as it moves East-Northeast. As of right now (anything could always change)... to your wishes (or disappointment) I don’t think our area will see much more snow that what little we have already had...
