I do believe a winter weather advisory might come in to play for our area soon. I am not 100% on this but we will see later on this evening. Avery County has been also upgraded to a winter storm warning.
Latest update Brought to you in part by Tucker's Towing...Tuckers Towing is based out of Lenoir NC... They have Wreckers & Roll Backs... If you are in need of their services please give them a call at (828) 728-9949
from two of the main models. Snowfall for this event possibly up to an inch...
Model one is the G F S
Model 2 is the European.
What can you update it on the next runs. This is definitely not going to be a Carolina crippler by number means.- John
Snow, sleet, and patchy freezing rain will be possible across the area Monday through Tuesday morning. Light accumulations of snow and ice will be possible, and slippery road conditions may result.
Colder air will then arrive in the mountains following this system
on Tuesday night. Windy conditions and low temperatures in the teens may produce bitter wind chill values of 0 to 10 degrees below zero in some locations.
Here is next week's storm. Too early to make any calls on it but a lot of the models are still showing the possibility for some winter weather on Friday. This will change several times.
Here are the latest top three models we use. My confidence is starting to decline on the accumulating snowfall factor for Monday night into Tuesday. We will have another update tomorrow afternoon. John
Keeping my fingers crossed for the next update on the possible winter weather for the area. Not saying There will not be any flakes flying- but might not have much if any accumulation. We'll see update coming at midnight.
I don't think the moisture is going to make it over the mountains Late Monday into overnight Tuesday to give us any accumulation. This looks like it could just be a novelty event.-John
I know this is not our coverage area but the winter storm watch is just to our West. Just keep our fingers crossed and see if it migrates over the mountains - and John
THe National Weather Service has issued a *WINTER STORM WATCH* for the following areas -->>

So this is exactly what I was talking about in my live video. Here is the deception of two different models saying two different things.
Weather update. Snow? Let's chat....
The severe threat for our area is slim to none we are okay for the time being. The front has moved through. Moderate rain should continue to fall for the next few hours. We will start concentrating on our next system Monday night into Tuesday. Also start thinking about making preparations for a Arctic blast for next week.
Heavy rainfall today could produce isolated flooding of low-lying
areas, especially this afternoon, where stream levels remain elevated
from the rainfall earlier this week.
After the latest I think the severe weather threat is not going to be nowhere near where it was on Tuesday. The rain's not going to be nowhere near as a tents as well but they could be pockets of heavy rain embedded in thunderstorms that could reaggravate certain streams and creeks.
We're going to put together a full forecast for this Tuesday coming up. Yes the S word is being thrown around but we are going to give you the full rundown on what we think is going to happen tomorrow.John
We have two opportunities left for sponsorship of our page. It's already proven itself for a few sponsors we have. If interested you can reach out through Messenger or email [email protected]. Sponsorship will include live video & forecast mentioning. Website placement and first hand forecast discussion on high impact weather events.
Definitely watching a pattern for next week. We could finally get some winter weather here in the carolinas. Will keep you posted. I keep forgetting mother nature seems to be a little bipolar this year...
Here are the latest graphical hazards for the approaching system for tomorrow.
Another in a series of low pressure systems will affect the western
Carolinas and northeast Georgia on Friday and Friday evening. This
system will bring strong wind shear but weak instability ahead of a
cold front during the day, which would raise the potential for a few
severe thunderstorms, with damaging wind gusts being the main
threat. Areas along and south of Interstate 85 may have the greatest
risk depending on how much instability develops. Isolated heavy
rainfall is also possible.
From NWS----Here are the results from our damage survey of the tornado near Claremont, NC. It was an EF1 with maximum winds of 110 mph, a path length of 9.08 miles, and a width of 250 yards Via NWS

Once again, we find ourselves at the mercy of Mother Nature on Friday. What could start off as a little rain snow mix Early Friday morning, well turn into the possibility of severe thunderstorms for parts of our coverage area. On top of everything to add insult to injury we also have possibility for some excessive rainfall for the area to already reaggravate close to 5 to 6 inches that has fallen throughout the area.
I don't think that the snow is going to amount to anything but I did attach a Sleet and snow probability map for later next week. We are going to continue to monitor that particular system as it gets closer, & we'll have a better idea on what to expect. Right now, we need to concentrate on preparing for the storm on Friday. We'll have more information tomorrow and give you guys & gals a better idea on what I think is going to happen. We can't let our guard down just yet. Too top it all off----a polar vortex is dropping in from Canada that could affect us later on in the middle of next week. We'll talk a little bit more about that after we get through this storm. John
