Going to be a soaker of a Sunday night across the region as our Nor’Easter moves up the coast. We could see 1”-4” of rain area wide before all said and done. Winds will also get going later tonight and last through the evening on Monday and they could gust up to 45 mph at times with higher gusts near the coast and in the higher elevations. #vawx #dcwx #mdwx #rainy #weather
Good Sunday Morning! Weather Action Day Today. Rain is currently overspreading the area & will continue througout the day. As we head into tonight some colder air will move in. Rain will try to switch to snow tonight NW of i-95. In my opinion, accumulation is most likely areas NW of i-95 that are at an elevation above 600ft. A Coating-2inches will be possible in these areas. Metro areas look to stay all rain. The full run of the HRRR simulation is below.

Taking another look at the surface smoke density model, today was much worse than initially forecasted. Tomorrow looks slightly better than today, although, we can look forward to Friday when the air is set to clear up significantly decreasing haze and increasing our air quality.
Looking at the future surface smoke density, you can see starting tomorrow afternoon/evening here in northern VA, we will experience again another little wave of smoke from the wildfires that are burning up in Canada. It won't be as bad as it was accouple weeks ago, but take the precautions and stay up to date on any air quality alerts that are issued.
The chance for some showers and thunderstorms return early Friday morning and throughout the day. Stay tuned!
Some isolated showers and small thunderstorms this evening to the north of us. If anything is to develop south of Loudoun County this evening, it will be a very small shower, so nothing crazy. I got a small shower here in Leesburg around 4:30 pm today. Better than nothing... WE NEED RAIN.
Taking a look at radar, you can see storms traveling mainly south over most of the NE United States. These storms shouldn't affect us down here in northern VA tonight. But tomorrow, this low pressure system is set to sit a ways off the coast over the Atlantic to our east. From this system, a cold front will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to our region tomorrow around 2pm!
