Part 2 of 2 - City managers in Texas cities under home rule charters have greater autonomy to shape their roles and responsibilities compared to those in cities operating under general law. At a special meeting Monday, Sept. 18, 2023 Council approved a contract with recruiting firm Strategic Government Resources to assist in a formal search for a new city manager. The Leander City Council announced it selected its new city manager in March this year.Todd Parton, a Texas native, was chosen for the role. His first day was April 16, 2024. As City Manager, Todd Parton oversees all city operations and personnel, enforces city policies and procedures, and manages the city budget. The city manager reports to City Council who represent the citizens of Leander. I was able to have the pleasure of sitting down with Todd and asking a few questions to help me, and by extension, you the listener to get to know him.
