This is a police department in North Carolina. Unfortunately LPD was defunded months ago and very little mention of it anywhere. Same principal applies, LPD will also not respond to noninjury accident, certain thefts, etc. Don't blame the police, blame your council members.

The Asheville Police Department on Wednesday released a list of citizen calls that officers will no longer answer in response to an alarming number of officers who have left the force.

City leadership better get a good contract for the police officers quick so you don't lose the ones you do have. Apparently only a handful of people applied this last go around which is why they are hiring again. Another three officers have left in the last couple of weeks with more leaving soon. If you think response times and investigations are slow now, wait a couple more months.

So getting feedback that the city administration is upset with police and police friends and families going public with the ongoing contract negotiations. I'm still trying to figure out how telling citizens how their money is being spent is a problem. I mean if the city is offering such a good deal shouldn't it be transparent?

Sorry I can’t have the same sentiments other may have. This is the person who was somehow deemed qualified to take over the municipal court as a retired firefighter, then deemed qualified to take over as assistant city manager. He has collected his pension as a retired firefighter then miraculously comes up with an awesome retirement plan that he is taking full advantage of. So now he conveniently has two pensions, thank you city of Lawton. To add insult to injury he wrote a scathing email to the police officers when they went public on the city’s most recent pathetic contract offer. Glad he was so concerned about other city employees and their lack of pay while he enjoys his. This person represents everything that is wrong with Lawton. Thank God he’s leaving, the city can’t afford him any longer.

The City of Lawton will be bidding farewell to Deputy City Manager Bart Hadley after nearly four decades of service to the community.

With your CIP money that was going to our first responders. Lawton, do you want nice offices or a safe city? The city says it doesn't have enough money to pay our officers appropriately. Agreed, not when you steal their money.

LAWTON, OK — Design plans now underway for renovations at Lawton City Hall that will allow city officials to transfer the remaining departments from the deteriorating City Hall Annex.

There seems to be a lot of people asking why police officers are taking to social media to tell their story about shortages, contracts, safety, etc. Great question and maybe at some point your city leadership can answer that question and explain it to our officers.

The homicides are nothing new yet our city leaders think it's better to do additional renovations at city hall then to address the crime problem.

No arrests have been made in four of the city’s homicides.

Good job KSWO on bringing attention to the fact that the city is trying to redirect the voters CIP money. Word to the city leadership on contract talks.....Don't start off at stupid. Be serious about your offers to our Lawton Police Department. We want the money to go to our first responders....period.

Over the weekend, a Lawton Police officer shared to Facebook the City’s most recent “concept of discussion,” calling it “insulting” and a “slap in the face.”
