Paul Jenkins, the comic book writer who filed a fraudulent copyright on the Axanar script has been sued for over $300,000 in legal bills by the very law firm that filed the fraudulent copyright!

Personally, I hope they both rot in hell. They cost us a lot of money and Paul has a new lawyer that hopefully will quit soon as well.

Ares Studios has a new team!

Over the last year, CBS has made a concerted effort to target Ares Studios, claiming that it is part of Axanar and trying to scuttle the fundraising efforts that pay for the monthly rent. And while we have made Ares Studios a separate company, and Alec relinquished running the studio to myself, it is obvious that we need to totally separate Ares Studios from ourselves by installing a new management structure and entirely removing Alec and myself from any involvement in the studio. This won't affect what we do at the studio and who can use it. It will just insulate the studio from unscrupulous individuals who have a vendetta against Axanar.

Here are the changes that have been made to Ares Studios:

1) As of June, a new team has taken on oversight of the studio, including Ray Myers, a long time Fan Film donor, who has been involved in half a dozen different Star Trek fan films.

2) A highly experienced veteran of the space industry, experienced in writing grants and raising money for 501c3s, has agreed to take over as President of Ares Studios. The Studio will be announcing the new President shortly.

3) The Ares Studios Store has been removed from the Ares Studios site for the time being. Stay tuned for news of a new store for all non-Axanar materials that Alec will be launching this week, including Sci Fi memorabilia and merchandise for all Ares Productions projects like Jewish Space Laser Corps! It will be up to the new management team to decide if they continue to sell Axanar-related merchandise which is the property of Ares Studios.

4) The studio will continue to work with any and all fan films that want to use the studio, especially Axanar, as well as continuing our association with the Gwinnett County School system.

None of these changes affect the mission of the studio and we will continue to fight the good fight serving fan film and student film makers!
