1 Hour Delay

Lawrence County School System will operate on a 1 Hour Delay for Friday, February 21, 2025. With the delayed start time, buses will pick up students approximately 1 hour later than the normal pickup time. School doors will open 1 hour later than usual unless arrangements have been made with the principal.

ALL 11 & 12 month employees will work hours that correspond with normal operational hours.

Site and County maintenance will address any lingering issues on campuses.

LCSS hopes early notification allows for parents and guardians to make arrangements for childcare regardless of a cancellation or delay.

After any seasonal weather event, please do the following:
•Stay off roadways when possible;
•If you must travel, leave home earlier than usual;
•Slow down when driving;
•Be mindful of black ice on roadways, walkways, entrances, etc.
•Do not cross low water bridges with rapid moving current;
•Be alert and drive safely

SEVERE WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENT
LAWRENCE COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM, TN.

With the likely accumulation of snow in our area, LCSS, including the Central Office, will be closed on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

•A decision regarding the academic day for Friday, February 21, 2025, will be made Thursday by 4:00 P.M.

•A decision regarding The Professional Learning Community meeting for LCSS faculty and staff scheduled for Thursday, February 20, will be announced by 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

•The February 20, 2025, Board of Education meeting will be held at 5:00 Thursday.

Extracurricular activities will be at the principal's discretion.

LCSS hopes advance notice provides parents with time to arrange for childcare and other needed arrangements.

Parents and Guardians:

LCSS will be closed on Valentine’s Day, Friday, February 14. Please make necessary arrangements for deliveries previously scheduled for a school. If you ordered gifts or treats for your child, we encourage you to contact the vendor to adjust delivery times and locations.

The Lawrence County School System has been fortunate not to have been significantly impacted with ongoing illness within the district at a level to consider the closure of school. While LCSS has experienced pockets of illness in recent weeks, it was not at a level requiring closure. While the district’s absenteeism rate has remained low, operations are becoming more strained each day. In an effort to alleviate the strain on operations, LCSS will be closed Thursday, February 13 and Friday, February 14, 2025.
These two days coupled with a weekend and President’s Day, totaling five days, may provide relief to the strain on operations and ongoing student and personnel illness. In addition to illness, accumulating rainfall may pose challenges for Student Transportation Services later this week.

The Central Office will open at 8:00 A.M. Thursday February 13, and Friday February 14, 2025.

All 11 and 12 month employees, Central Office staff, County and Site Maintenance will work their regularly scheduled hours.
