BREAKING: TUESDAY, 8:45 P.M. — This is a video of massive amounts of foam floating down Cedar Brook, a small tributary that begins near the old industrial park and empties into the Kentucky River.
As of 8:30 p.m., the source of the foam had not been determined.
Danny Robinson, whose home sits just feet from Cedar Brook, said he spotted the foam around 6:30 p.m. and immediately called Judge-Executive Orbrey Gritton, who arrived at Robinson’s home a short time later along with Anderson County Public Safety Director Bart Powell.
Gritton and Powell left the property and headed toward the old industrial park after calling the Environmental Protection Agency, which is currently trying to determine the source, Gritton said.
“We are calling in the necessary resources to determine what this is, what is causing it and what steps we need to take next,” Gritton said by phone.
Cedar Brook empties into the Kentucky River downstream from the city of Lawrenceburg’s water treatment facility, which draws water from the river. Mayor Troy Young said workers at the facility are monitoring the situation, along with the city’s sewer crews. He said drinking water has not been affected by the foam.
Robinson said he spotted the foam earlier in the evening when it first started.
“You sometimes see foam in the water, but it looked kind of strange at first,” he said. “Within a few minutes, it looked very strange and all this foam just came flowing past us.”

Lawrenceburg siblings witness SpaceX launch
When Kathy Ann Moffett Harvey and her siblings planned their vacation to Florida, they had no idea they’d end up witnessing history.
Last night, the three Lawrenceburg natives got an up close and personal view of the SpaceX rocket ship as it roared into orbit from Cape Canaveral, marking the first time in history four civilians have been launched into space.
“We didn’t know it was happening when we came down here,” Harvey said this afternoon and she, her brother David Moffett and sister Kim Wiley continued to enjoy their vacation.
“We were almost here before we saw something about it.”
Harvey said they are staying at a Holiday Inn in Cape Canaveral, which gave them a great view of the launch.
“We were about 10 miles from it. We could see the sky lighting up when it got going, then saw it blast off.”
Although the experience lasted only minutes, Harvey said it was a fantastic sight to see.
“Every time there was a power boost, it made lots of colors,” she said. “The halo effects it made as it went through the clouds was pretty cool.
“My brother just kept saying ‘Wow!’”
Harvey said the experience ranks among the coolest things she’s ever seen.
“We travel a lot,” she said. “We’ve been to 36 states and I’ve been to London, and this was right up there with London.
“It ranks right up there and was really exciting, especially when you hear the rumbling. We didn’t feel the earth move, but we could hear the rumbling as it went up.”
She said toward the end of a video she made of the event and sent later that evening to The Anderson News, she and her siblings got a chuckle when her brother said, “And this is Kathy Harvey with The Anderson News, reporting live.”
The rocket ship, called The Crew Dragon, reportedly reached orbit about 10 minutes after blasting off around 8 p.m. Within three hours, it had reached its final cruising orbital altitude of just over 363 miles, higher than th
