**Players of the Game vs East Jessamine**

Each week Anderson County Bearcats Football will announce 4 players of the game in key areas for that particular game including Scout Team, Special Teams, Defensive Team and Offensive Line Team players of the game. For the win against East Jessamine they are:

Offensive LIne Team: Connor Schultz
Defensive Team: Jackson Hardin
Special Teams: Will Rhody
Scout Team: Wyatt Chilton

The Anderson County Bearcats Football team came into Friday night 0-1 on the young 2024 Season, however this team was ready to start putting all the pieces together, and they started that process with a 27-21 win over the East Jessamine Jaguars.

The night appeared to be a almost total package win with Offense, Defense and Special Teams all having played a great game. Senior Running back Will Rhody again led the bearcats in rushing as he ran the ball for 115 yards on only 8 carries and added 3 more TDs to his yearly total. Rhody got the game off to a big start when he went left side with a handoff from Eli Castle and 67 Yards later the Bearcats were off and running.

Eli Castle went 6 of 10 passing for 96 yards including 1 TD and 1 int before leaving with an injury, no status update yet but we will work on that. 5 different receivers had receiving yards and 5 different players ran the ball as the Bearcats racked up 332 yards of offense (239 rushing/93 passing) and went 4 for 5 on 4th down conversions.

Hudson Degarmo led all receivers with 46 yards on 3 receptions and also saw some action at QB going 1 for 1 passing.

Talking to coach Buchanan about the win he stated:
"We are thrilled that our kids can enjoy a victory! I’m so proud of them. I’m so happy for them. There's still plenty of room for improvement, but it’s nice to finally have some results like we want. We definitely have plenty of video that shows us what needs to get better and as always, our focus must be on continuing to improve.but I won’t lie to you. It will be much more enjoyable after having a win. Winning gives you adrenaline and you need adrenaline to do what we do."

I think we have the ship facing the right way now, let's all get on board and support these players, coaches and all the people in the Bearcat Football family.

We will have a full write up on the game tomorrow along with pictures from our sponsor for AC Anderson County Bearcats Football and a smalltown video again. If you didn't make it tonight, definitely come out to the next home game and be sure to share the Bearcat News page, we are trying to expand sports to all Bearcat Sports but it takes time, money and effort and we are working towards that now.

Send a congrats out to the boys and this man in this pic, he won't ever take credit but I can tell you inside he is happy for these young men. He's happy they put together what the coaches are teaching them, he is happy they executed and he is happy they had a good crowd tonight to support them. He isn't satisfied, trust me. But that is coming.

First Year Jaguars Coach brings in the new and improved Jaguars football team to Bob Ware Field tonight. The Jaguars played Danville in a bowl game last week winning 34-7.

The jaguars showed a aggresive passing attacking amassing 257 yards in the air on 16 of 20 passing by Sr QB William Harrison. With 3 passing td's and 1 int the QB helped the Jaguars start the 2024 season off with a win, something they have not done since 2016. The Jaguars also gained 160 yards on the ground, 118 of those coming from SR RB Sean Reed.

The jaguars will come in looking to start 2-0 on the season, but your Bearcats get back starting QB Eli Castle, starting RB Nemo Wilson and 3 others players that served 1 game suspensions in the Bearcats Opener at Rockcastle.

It's going to be a great game and the stands will be full!

Last Night The Anderson County Bearcats Football team took the field to open the 2024 Football season away from home at Rockcastle County. Down 5 players including the starting RB and QB, the Bearcats showed a lot of heart and grit but fell 20-35 to the Rockets. I asked Coach Buchanan about the game and this is what he had to say:
"I liked our effort and our physicality a lot. Going back over all these years the bearcats generally play hard and they will hit you. I have to thank the old guys for that piece of it. Our guys did that on Friday night and that was probably the best thing that I saw. We have a lot to clean up and we have a lot to improve. But, I believe our kids and coaches are willing to put in the work to get that done. There were a lot of pluses from Friday night the bottom line though is that we still have to find a way to win. One rep at a time and one at a time we have to continue to improve. We almost have to have a mindset that we’re gonna become so good at that even when we try to screw up the win we’re gonna win anyway. That is the level of ex*****on and improvement that we have to work for."

I think Coach is on point, the boys were laying the hits down and six players were playing in new positions or starting for the first time at their perspective positions including Hudson DeGarmo getting his first Varisty start at QB. The young sophomore QB went 4 for 11 for 50 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions in his first start. The defense hit hard and a few missed tackles may have been the difference in the game, but the improvement is obvious to see in just the first game of year 2 under coach Buchanan. Friday night the boys open up against East Jessamine (who won Friday against Danville 35-7) and they will be with all starters and have a week to fix the hiccups from Friday, be sure to be there as the Century Bank Classic will definitely be one to watch live.

A balanced rushing attack saw Rhody with 64, Jackson with 67 and Hilton with 63 including a 62 yard burst to get Anderson on the board early.
Jackson Hardin added 33 yards receiving including a 27 yards TD catch from Degarmo.
Hunter Hilton had a 24 yard TD catch on the night also.
