The Laurel Leader-Call is the locally-owned newspaper of Laurel and Jones County, Mississippi. The Leader-Call is published Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and can be read online at leader-call.com. Magnolia Street, right across from Café La Fleur in downtown Laurel. Established in 1911, The Laurel Leader-Call has been serving as the hometown newspaper for more than 106 years. Although the newspape

r has had many owners over the course of its history, the Leader-Call was restored to its locally-owned hometown roots in 2012 when Gin Creek Publishing, which had been publishing The ReView of Jones County, purchased the Leader-Call name and subscription list and began publishing as the Leader-Call. In 2013, the Leader-Call made national and international headlines with their "Historic Wedding" story, and they repeated this feat a year later with the story "Kentucky Fried Hoax," an investigative feature that exposed a national story as a fraud. Reported runaway Alexia Slade, age 15, has been LOCATED SAFE in Jones County this morning.

Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin thanks all who shared news media reports and social media posts on Alexia Slade’s missing status. JCSD received numerous leads and tips on her potential whereabouts during the investigation and extensive search for her yesterday and into this morning.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is seeking information on the whereabouts of reported runaway teenager Alexia Slade, age 15.

Alexia Slade is described as a white female, approximately 5’ 5” in height, weighing approximately 100 lbs., with black hair (brown in photo provided), and wearing brown glasses. She is believed to have ran away from home in the 300 block of Union Line Road near Soso between midnight to 1:00am this date.

There is no known clothing description and no known direction of travel. Alexia reportedly left on foot and left her cell phone at home.

JCSD deputies have checked several residences where family members thought she might have gone to stay without success.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of Alexia Slade, please call 911, JCSD at 601-425-3147, or Jones County Crime Stoppers at 601-428-STOP (7867).
