I'm on the box again. This time standing on the tip of my toes with a megaphone in my hands.

My heart is pounding and there is a passion surging through my veins.

There is a message I must release but is now the right time?

Will the message be received?

Will it prick and mend the heart all at once?

Will it release freedom, boldness, and courage straight to the soul?

I guess we will find out soon enough.

My blood was boiling with a passionate reaction after I read the email.

Not because I was angry at the response.

I was angry for what the response represented.

It fueled a massive desire to see God's children in the marketplace set free from a pervasive disease rampant among believers in business.

The underlying issue is fear.

And do you know what fear represents?

I believe it is a place, a posture, a mindset that has not relinquished itself to the truth of the Kingdom.

It is a mindset, a belief that runs contrary to the Truth found in Love. And by that, I mean the Truth found in God.

Because God is love.

Fear is a belief, a place of hope in something that is contrary to who God is and how God is.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that fear is contrary to who you are because, as a believer, you are a new creation and are one with the One.

Could that mean that when we are in fear we are acting out of character? 🤔

So back to that email...

The email I received was a response to a request.

The answer was no. And that's fine because people have a right to say yes or no to any request.

What angered me was the reason - which I already established was fear.

And I was angry because fear constricts and binds.

What Jesus desires for us is FREEDOM.

So I just gotta stand on my box and raise myself up as high as I can and speak loudly that

THERE IS NO COMPETITION IN THE KINGDOM.

PERIOD.

Fear can show up in business in multiple ways...

- Not wanting to give out certain information
- Grinding to launch and grow because someone else is doing the same thing you want to do
- Afraid someone else is going to take your client
- Not celebrating when someone starts a business in your industry because now there's more of you that have to share the business
- Taking a client from someone else
- Not honoring your word because you won't make as much money
- Not helping someone who wants to cancel their service with you (you can honor their request and transition them out with grace)
- Comparing your business growth, or lack thereof, to someone else's growth
- Discounting your prices so that YOU get the client instead of someone else

It's important that we look at our motivation because it is everything.

What's the motivation behind your "Yes"?
What's the motivation behind your "No"?

Is it fear?
Is it Kingdom?

Remember that God IS love and there is no fear in love.
Remember that you are IN Him and He is in you.
Remember that you are a new creation - freed from old mindsets.
Remember that your transformation comes by renewing your mind...

What you believe about God.
What you believe about yourself.
How you stand in Truth.

Focus.

Don't look at the distractions on your left.

Don't be swayed by the teachings that want to drag you down the paths of comparison and competition.

Those are thorny paths full of obstacles to trip you up and slow you down.

You are meant to run your race with perseverance, boldly and confidently because you are one with the ONE with all of the strategies you need for business so you can transform lives and release heaven in a way that ONLY you can.

Because you were made, you are equipped, with everything you need to reach the ones you are supposed to impact.

So go on ahead and punch fear in the face, grab hold of courage, and boldly move forward in your assignment.

There are likely a whole lot of someones waiting for your YES.

This is an invitation to collaborate with heaven and to know that you know that you know that you have NO competition and you can operate every part of your business in complete freedom.

It's time to grow a Kingdom brand created in freedom while serving with excellence, authentic connections, and content that brings transformation and alignment with Truth.

This is a problem.

I asked them not to email me, but they didn't listen.

Two different organizations - one a non-profit and the other a solopreneur. It's not that I had any issue with either of them. It's just that their emails were no longer relevant to me.

Enter stage left another organization was emailing me. I did subscribe but didn't realize the true focus of the organization. Once I received their emails I realized that what they offered was not relevant to me.

I emailed them once I realized it and asked to be removed from their list.

All three of these organiztions had the same issue - and as a recipient of their emails they caused a point of frustration.

They had no instructions on how to unsubscribe from their emails and no unsubscribe or "manage your email preferences" link in their emails.

This is bad.

Why?

Because it's ILLEGAL.

Let me explain.

The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that sets the rules for commercial email messages. There are BIG penalties for now following the law. (I'll share how big at the end.)

The law states that we, as receivers of commercial email, must be able to opt-out of receiving messages.

In turn, we, as senders of commercial messages, must provide instructions to recipients on how to opt out of receiving those messages and then we must comply when asked... and you have 10 days to do so.

What does this mean for you as a Kingdom entrepreneur or Spirit-led coach?

What it really comes down to is honoring your clients and subscribers. Honor their inbox.

It's really that simple.

So how can you be in and stay in compliance?

Don't be like the three organizations I mentioned at the beginning of my post and IGNORE requests to opt out of your emails.

DO make it easy on yourself and utilize a system for sending emails that makes it super SIMPLE for you. I'm talking automated simple.

In addition, if you use multiple systems for sending commercial emails, consider only using one.

Why?

Because if someone opts out from one, you need to make sure they are opted out EVERYWHERE.

That's too much unnecessary work!

When it comes to emails and complying with CAN-SPAM I see a lot of confusion in this other area too...

Lucky for you I feel like sharing right now. 😂

Another important part of the Act requires that you include a postal address. Now, if you work from home that can cause your heart rate to climb as fast as a thermometer in hell. (Kidding!)

There is a simple fix for this too.

It does NOT have to be your home address. When the Act first came out we all thought we had to put our home address in emails - that when it say physical address it had to literally be where we worked from.

That's not the case. It can be a postal mail box address, virtual office address, etc.



So what IS the penalty for violating the CAN-SPAM Act anyway?

It's more than a whole lot of entrepreneurs make in a year! Up to $51,744.

That's nothing to sneeze at. (Or is it nothing to cough at?!)

There's a whole lot more to comply legally when it comes to emails, websites, and social media.

There's another really really HUGE violation I see LOADS of Kingdom entrepreneurs and Spirit-led coaches making and it makes me flinch nearly every time.

Why?

Because I don't want anyone to get in trouble and get hit with a big ol' fine from the government. Even if they can use the money! 😜

We can do better.

Better marketing.
Better communications.
Better business.

And I aim to help.
