How is 2024 already making its debut a little less than two weeks from now!? Also, hi!!! Omgsh, it’s been too long, I know!

Before your timelines are flooded with all the 2023 recaps, I wanted to write you a note of reflection and gratitude as I make an intentional decision to sign off a bit earlier this year.

Although you may see a lot of joy in this highlight reel, let me say that that’s all it is, a highlight reel. I enjoy joy and sharing it, but I also value authenticity, so just know there was so much more happening in real life than what you see. It’s not me to capture the down and out moments of my life on video, but in words, I can say that truthfully this year was filled with so many rollercoaster emotions. Emotions of sadness yet praise, painful growth but with joyful healing, discontentment followed by pure awe of alignment. A mixed bag of, “Oh no!” and “YAY!” moments. (If you feel me on that, I see you and send you love!) As I review in hindsight, I still cherish every moment from this year. I value the down and ups because it got me to today. And I like me and my life today.

Aside from my reflection, I want to highlight how truly grateful I am for this little community. I'l walk out of 2023 with a true appreciation of all that's happened for Dizzy Spangle this year along with all the people I got to meet & create goodness with. With that, 2024 will present some changes that may not allow me to be on here as often as I would like to. Don't worry, it's not an ending for this space. It's a pause. As much as I want to say I can do it all, I can't. I'm not a robot. Just a human, and one who is trying to stay realistic with how much she can do while staying laser-focused on elevating other parts of her life, just for a little while.

In the meantime, leave you with this: No matter how long you've been along for the ride, I am so appreciative of you!! Every opportunity, like, comment, share, view, message...it all brings me joy to see how far DS has come in the last almost-10 years also, I can't believe it's been that long!!). Excited for what else is in store for this space when it returns!

Thanks for being here. I hope you have the merriest Christmas and the happiest new year!

Woke up to sunshine beaming through my window, a hot cup of coffee goodness made by my favorite person, and the warm greetings from those I love 💖

Spending the morning cozied in bed, thinking of the last year while dreaming of the year ahead. Truly grateful for a new year of life! 🥹 Can’t take birthdays for granted because it means there’s so much more beautiful life to live. 🙌🏼

Since starting with her in 2020, she’s kept my locks tamed with her helpful advice on hair rituals and products. Also, her kind soul and sweet personality makes going to the salon such a fun experience, leaving me with a full heart and a grin that’s plastered on my face from ear to ear. 💖

It's so surprising that Gedalya and I walked through our home lot only two months ago, seeing just the bones of our first dream home. 🏡

One of the many things I appreciated about our realtor was she put together a heartfelt activity (with permission of the builder), where G and I could write bible verses on the frames of our home. 🥹

G and I were so excited! I remember us sitting together in our apartment, intentionally picking out verses for each room as our prayer to God to use our home for his glory. After all, this wouldn't have been possible without him 🙏🏼

Celebrated my 6 year recovery anniversary last night. 🥳

Also surrendered an additional two areas of my life to start the healing process. ❤️‍🩹

Recovery is such a huge part of my life. I’m also so blessed to have the beautiful CR community around me. Truly grateful for all God has done for me through the Celebrate Recovery program. 🥹

Took a shot and ordered from Temu for the first time 🛒

If you haven’t heard of it, Temu is an online megastore that offers just about any product you can imagine for super super cheap. Depending on the item, it’s comparable to Wish or Amazon.

I ordered four items from their site to see if I would like the quality of the products for myself. 🤔

A hot weekend in the desert calls for some yummy ice cream, especially on National Ice Cream Day 🍦 😋

Visited to cool down with their Egg Puff Waffle and dairy-free soft serve! 💜

I chose the cinnamon toast crunch egg puff waffle with ube soft serve topped with sea salt cream! 😍 It was a great sweet and salty treat! I think next time, I’ll try the vanilla ube swirl topped with Oreos! 😋

Aside from egg waffles and soft serves, they also offer yummy boba drinks, coffees, lemonades and iced teas!

Hey Siri, play “What Dreams Are Made Of” 😍✨🏡

After five years of diligent saving, planning, dreaming and praying, G and I bought our first home this weekend 🙌🏼😭

This story has God all up in it and would love to share it one day. But for now, here’s the short version:
•We didn’t expect this pleasant surprise AT ALL! 🥳
•The design, location, and price more than hit all of our expectations!
•We’ve been in a dreamy daze leading up to, during and after this experience. 😵‍💫😍
•We’re in awe at God’s guidance & provision through it all ✝️

A HUGE shout-out to our amazing realtor Janice Contreras, Realty and Style 🔥 G and I have so many words about our experience with Janice and they are everything wonderful. ✨ Aside from her glowing personality, Janice brings so much knowledge, talent, patience and care when helping her clients. G and I feel so blessed that she represented us and guided us during this monumental step in our lives. 🤍

I can’t wait to share more of this experience and our time with Janice with all of you 🥹 For now, here’s some pics of us smiley G’s in and out of our dream home, a selfie with our amazing realtor and some of G and I writing the first of many notes on the wood of the new build lol The drawing is of a man on an island drawn by G. He said, “it’s a guy on an island because we’re writing and drawing on our kitchen island!” 🤣 Gotta love him!!!!

Can you believe June is over? So many great memories made AND so much yummy food had 😋

Here are some of my most memorable food adventures from the month 😍

1. Just a girl and her candied hazelnut & nutella donut processing how much she loves her Saint Honoré donut! 🍩

2. Met with friends a couple times at Makers & Finders. We had the steak & eggs, the breakfast bagel, and the tumeric, lavender-infused, and honey lavender lattes ☕️

3. Had the "Mmm, Smells Like Breakfast" latte with a strawberry roll from Parlour coffee and cooking 😋 At first, I asked for a Rocky Road Roll. Didn’t even realize they plated the wrong dessert. The guys behind the counter were so sweet and packed the Rock Road roll for me to take home without charge. Great service!

4. FINALLY tried Chinos Mexican Kitchen s Aztec Shrimp Fries! I asked for no jalapenos and no bacon. My mouth was bursting with flavor! 🍟

5. Love Dona Maria Tamales and had a meal there with G and a friend. I had a plate of nacho fries. Can you tell I really like fries? 🤣

6. I'm at Coffee Religion almost every week 🙈 I've tried every single latte and they are all delicious! Also, I can't get enough of their Breakfast at Tiffany's sandwich (not pictured) and their Pear Toast!

7. One of my friends introduced me to Siete Family Foods chips. I've been obsessed since! Found this large bag at Costco for $5.99!

8. Love the Shrimp Louie Salad from California Fish Grill! They season the shrimp so well and I love how this salad has asparagus! 🥗

9. Went out on a date night in DowntownLV and we love Le Thai! The atmosphere, service & food is bomb! I usually get the Pad See Ew. 🤤

I wanted something sweet the other day, but G and I try not to keep too many snacks at our place. So I made these 4 ingredient cookies instead 😍

Found the recipe on ‘s blog and had them ready to eat in 25 minutes!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The recipe calls for the following but I made some modifications based on what I had in our kitchen…
•1 1/2 cup quick oats
•1 cup peanut butter
•1/2 cup maple syrup ~ but I used 1/4 cup honey instead
•1 egg ~ but I used 1 mashed banana instead 🍌

Popped these in the oven for 15 mins at 350 degrees.

Let them cool and then devour 🍪

Fun Fact: Did you guys know the first ever selfie was taken in 1839? A guy named Robert Cornelius in Philadelphia set up a camera in his family's store and then ran into the frame for the picture. 📸 Ohhhh, if Robert could only see how cameras have changed since then. No more running, Robert!! lol
