WHY NOW?
2018 is a new year...a time for new beginnings, to bust out of old ruts, tired habits, doing things that basically get you nowhere. With the support, inspiration and advice from several filmmakers, producers, artists, writers, actors and other creative people I have known, I figured that the time for “waiting for things to be perfect” is finally past. When you get to be this age - over 50 - you can hear that clock ticking a lot louder than it did when you were in your twenties. Due to limited employment options, which are limited for a long number of reasons, I decided that now is the time to establish myself as a filmmaker. The goal is to turn out a number of shorts and videos, to practice and prepare for the daunting task of actually making a full-length feature film, using resources and locations that are available locally. Should most things go as planned, ALPDF’s first short will be produced in time for several festivals taking place both here in Vegas and across the country, well before the end of 2018.
