I have to say, if my first review has to be of anyone, I’m glad it’s this one, this disc reminds me of the time I got sucker punched in a bar back in the 90s by a guy who had about 5 inches and 70 lbs over me, it literally came out of nowhere and left me dizzy for a while, only that was a case of mistaken identity and he bought me drinks the rest of the night, but I digress.
Bloodcrusher has entered the Metal realm out of Oregon with a heavy dose of semi old school Death Metal (definitely some elements of the early 90s NY scene here but more of that next generation where the sound was refined and the level of intensity was beefed up) and they brought an arsenal of brutality to back it up. I can already see the weak cowering in the corner in fear of unwillingly journeying to the next plane of existence in the most painful ways imaginable. Extreme Brutality without using the typical formulas and routines that often litter the soundscape of streaming radio. Really great writing on the guitars, and the drums are going to send you straight to the God you don’t want to see. Vocals are doubled up in the right spots. This isn’t what you offer a newbie to listen to when they’re just coming out of their Metallica/Slayer phase, they gotta work their way up to this. Decent all around production that’s clear but not that overly quantized polished synthetic bs that plagues so many artists these days. A must have for the collection. 4.3 out of 5 stars
