Spanning from 900AD to 1400AD, these carvings are a testament to a civilization that once thrived in this arid landscape. As you walk among these ancient stones, you can feel the past in a way that is hard to describe.

I remember the first time seeing this place. I drove 7 hours on a whim in hopes to catch Shiprock at sunset. I could see this monadnock jutting from the earth from MILES away. I was blasting music with the windows down, yelling and wooing as I got closer. New Mexico is so vast, and there are so many unique formations that bring so much joy to the heart and soul. It was at this moment that I realized I wanted to spend the rest of my life in the Land of Enchantment.

Desert colors in are the most stunning 🌵

The beautiful flowers on a prickly pear cactus blossom in the Spring and close again in the Summer. When the blossoms close up, the round buds ripen and then turn into delicious fruit. The fruit or "tunas" are cut in half and resemble pomegranates in taste, and texture, although they have glochids on the outside and must be handled carefully
