Dr. Karen M. Trujillo Administration Complex Building Dedication Ceremony
Las Cruces News September 25, 2021: Today the Las Cruces Public Schools Administration Complex was officially dedicated in memory of the late Dr. Karen M. Trujillo who was the past Superintendent of LCPS. She had a big impact on the education of New Mexico as well as deep ties with her alma mater, NMSU.
As a former Aggie, Trujillo had an immense influence in the NMSU community. Not only did she receive her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics education, but also a Ph.D. in secondary education, mathematics, curriculum and instruction. Dr. Karen Trujillo was known as a brilliant researcher and passionate advocate for New Mexico students and educators. She had such an positive impact on so many lives it was unanimously decided by LCPS to rename and dedicate the LCPS Administration complex to "Dr. Karen M Trujillo Administration Complex, Las Cruces Public Schools.

Trinity was the code name of the first detonation of a nuclear device. It was conducted by the United States Army at 5:29 a.m. on July 16, 1945, as part of the Manhattan Project. The test was conducted in the Jornada del Muerto desert about 35 miles southeast of Socorro, New Mexico, on what was then the USAAF Alamogordo Bombing and Gunnery Range, now part of White Sands Missile Range.
