Advancing LGBTQ Health: Strategies for Creating Affirmative and Inclusive Environments for Caring, Learning, and Working is an initiative to ensure that the increased visibility and advances of recent years to improve access to quality care for sexual and gender minority people continue.

Our focus will be working with health care professionals and health care organizations to improve understanding of LGBTQ people and health disparities they experience, and how to eliminate these as part of an overall goal of equitable health care for all people. We recognize that health depends on what happens to people out in the world where they interact with others, not just when receiving health care, but also at school, at work, in church, as well as at home. Recognizing this, we will reach out to increase understanding to eliminate stigma that impacts LGBTQ people in their daily lives, and prevent health disparities from taking hold. Our program will consist of trainings tailored to both individual and organizational needs, and working with organizations to think strategically about how to create safe inclusive spaces where people can feel affirmed regarding their gender identity and sexual orientation.
