The Story of a Brave Cow Kid: BentleyBentley was born in February of 2011. He carries a warm smile and beautiful sense of humor. His kindness and bright personality warmed my heart when I was lucky enough to meet him! Passionate about trucks, cars, and drawing his dreams are big, like the vast wide open Wyoming prairie I photographed him in. Inspired to be an art teacher and writer, under his warm smile, he has faced many battles. Born with DiGeorge Syndrome, which comes with heart diseases, Bentley has undergone two open heart surgeries and overcome what doctors thought he couldn't. They thought he wouldn't be able to do normal tasks, but this strong boy has proven them all wrong. Through all the obstacle's he is pure to the core with a warm heart. He shows this through a children's book he is writing to help other children with special needs.Though he has been through many obstacles, he never has let that stop him! This brave young man shows that no matter the battle, there is always light and happiness wherever you focus your mind. Here is to a very special Cow Kid that I will never forget! Such a brave and courageous soul! "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for LORD my God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee"-Deuteronomy 31:6 KJV
What has been stopping you from following your dreams? Do they scare you to the point to where you won’t be able to achieve them because they’re so big? I have learned that if you want to accomplish your dreams and goals that you have set, you just have to go and do it. You can’t hold back a single second you have to start today, even if it means, just preparing for what you’re about to do. Don’t let anything hold you back because what’s been stopping you? The way that people might judge you for it, or the opinions of others, which don’t matter at all. It’s never too late to follow your dreams.
Fellow FFA members and alumni,
Today is SAE Day!
I remember my times in FFA and the livestock projects I would take as my Supervised Agricultural Experience. Those were some fun moments I will cherish forever, besides the paperwork. So my fellow members and alumni, share with us your SAE and your favorite memories from them to honor SAE day!
As many of you know I was able to testify in front of Montana legislatures at the beginning of February. This was for the Country-of-Origin Placarding Act HB 350. We have received news the bill was killed and tabled until further notice.
So what does this mean? It means we will work harder to make it known that this will be the best thing for Montana beef producers and the first step towards installing the Country-of-origin Labeling again in the US government. This will enable all born, raised, and processed in the USA beef to obtain labels that indicate "Product of the USA", and the beef from foreign countries will have a label indicating it is not American beef.
Many American ranchers and agricultural organizations have been working very hard to pass COOL at the state and federal levels. The placarding act is just the first step, and even if it didn't pass in Montana yet this is only the beginning.
We will continue to advocate for COOL and COOP at the state and federal levels!
Let's ensure our consumers know where their beef comes from! Support the fight for COOL and COOP!
