This weekend All Request Saturday Night gives you a taste of the irish! It's Van Morrison as our feature artist, we haven't featured him since 2020. He's a one of a kind with some good blues from his Bang Records days in the 60's, and a lot of very melodic chill tunes from the 70's and 80's. From the days of his bands Belfast R&B and Them, to his long running solo career. We'll cover all the bases with this awesome artist.

We'll start on time this weekend, but starting on September 7th, MSU Football comes into the picture. There are 3:30 games on the 7th and 14th of September, so our show probably won't start till about 7:30 or so. It's football season no doubt. This weekend on All Request Saturday Night we're featuring one of Larry Allen's favorites, Dire Straits. We'll dig deep into the library of this unique band. And of course play whatever you want to hear! We have a full five hours this week, we should be able to accommodate all of your requests with no problem. The secret of getting them played earlier in the show, is getting your email requests in early. Many times the first requests show up in our email starting on Sunday. He lost his life in a helicopter crash at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin right after his show with Eric Clapton in August 1990. Get your requests in now for whatever you want to hear tonight. The Flower Power Hour next weekend will also feature music from Woodstock and conversation with Artie Kornfeld, who along with the late Michael Lang came up with the idea for Woodstock and made it happen.

📷 The Goose Lake International Music Festival was held in Leoni, Michigan. Over 200,000 fans attended the three day festival. Acts who appeared included, Jethro Tull, Ten Years After, Mountain (band), Chicago, Bob Seger, John Sebastian, James Gang, Iggy And The Stooges, Brownsville Station, MC5, Rod Stewart and Flying Burrito Brothers.

Last week Aerosmith announced as a band they are retiring from touring. Steven injured his voice, and he's not able to get it back to where it was before the injury. The show they put on at the Van Andel in GR back in 2015 was one of the best concerts I've seen, and in my life I've seen a lot. This weekend All request Saturday Night salutes Aerosmith on an incredible career. Be sure and email your requests to [email protected]

This weekend will be Heavy! As in Metallica being our featured artist on All Request Saturday Night. Formed in 1981 in Los Angeles they hit success with their 3rd album Master of Puppets. They have released eleven studio albums and 4 live albums, this band has sold 125 million albums worldwide, 58 million in the U.S. alone. They have won 26 grammys and were inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in 2009.

We have changed our email address to make requests to [email protected] we experienced another issue with our old email address again this past weekend. Gmail is very dependable so this should remedy any problems. Get your requests in early for whatever you want to hear!

Hey just checking in. We had some email issues again this past weekend with some of your emails not showing up until way late, that were sent much earlier. I'm not trusting Bluehost anymore that handles our email, since we;ve had two glitches in a month. I have setup a new email account where I get my personal email which is very reliable. Happy 75th birthday to Mike Shrieve, Santana's iconic drummer! His legendary drum solo during "Soul Sacrifice" at Woodstock at just 20 years old remains a defining moment in rock history. (He was the 2nd youngest musician at that time.)
Born on July 6, 1949, in San Francisco, Shrieve began drumming at nine and quickly rose to prominence. Throughout his career, Shrieve has pushed the boundaries of drumming, collaborating with numerous acclaimed artists. He played percussion on The Rolling Stones' 1980 album "Emotional Rescue" and Mick Jagger's 1984 album "She's the Boss." Happy birthday, Mike! Your legacy continues to inspire us all.

Saturday is almost here already, this week we're featuring REO Speedwagon. A band that has been huge in the midwest, probably one of the few bands I have seen perform multiple times. They have always been a very active touring band. They went through 3 lead singers before Kevin Cronin locked it in. He's been with them for a long time and has been a part of this band for decades. We'll play your REO Speedwagon requests along with anything else you like. This Sunday is the 28th, is the 39th anniversary of All Request Saturday Night. This is one of the few request shows in America that has served its audience for almost 4 decades. Our big celebration will be next year for 40 years. I am thankful for each and every one of you who support our show, and if Larry were still with us he would feel the same.

This weekend All Request Saturday Night features the Police! First time I've featured this band, it's about time. They were pretty dominant late 70's and through the 80's. Then Sting went solo and the Police faded away. They have some great music that we will explore this weekend. Your suggestions and requests are always welcome.

I want to thank those of you who email your requests in early, gives me the opportunity to plan out the beginning of the show before I even get to the radio station.

I do need to make a major apology for those of you who emailed requests in this past Saturday. I use Bluehost for my websites and email hosting. Last Saturday I had received many early requests during the week, but none after 7:50am Saturday. I'm always checking the requests all day Saturday, but didn't see anymore come in all the way up to showtime. Just figured because of the holiday weekend it was going to be a light request night. When I got up Sunday morning and opened my email, 22 emailed requests showed up at 2:30am in my mailbox. Apparently Bluehost email servers were down for most of the day Saturday, once they resolved it all the requests showed up two and a half hours after the show was over. I'm very sorry this happened, there is no way I can make up 22 requests in one night. So please try again. Email issues are a rarity, in the 10 years doing the show I've only had issues twice.

Summertime is here. Back in the 80's next week. This weekend on All Request Saturday Night it's something we don't often, but always gets great response. It's a theme weekend, and that theme is Summertime! Favorite songs that make you think of summer, or the tunes you loved as a teen on summer vacation. Anything that brings a summer smile to your face works. So along with your usual request, add a summer song or two to your list. And for those of you who listen every week but don't participate in requesting songs, we need your requests please. This could be a fun show, it's all up to you. This weekend All Request Saturday Night is featuring Procol Harum, last featured on our show in 2020. Gary Brooker and Keith Reed wrote most of their songs, and their guitarist? That would be Robin Trower from 1967 to 1971. Robin had a very successful solo career after Procol Harum up to this day. I'm sure we'll have some Robin trower requests along with our main feature. During their time of existence Procol Harum produced 19 albums. They also had one hit single, Conquistador recorded live and charted at #16 on the top 40 in 1972. We'll dig into their catalog of tunes along with all of your requests this weekend on All Request Saturday Night.
