Georgetown Publishing An Evolution of Love - Life and Love with Frontotemporal Dementia Bob passed away on April 7, 2006, from Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) at the age of 50.

He struggled mightily with this illness and we struggled with him, gaining an even greater respect for this fine man, as he slowly succumbed to a progressive and irreversible form of dementia. This book captures the memory and character of “Old Bob”—the Bob we knew before the onset of an illness that robbed him of his talents and capabilities. It also shows the ways in which we learned to cope wit

h and appreciate the “New Bob”—the Bob we cared for and lived with through the course of the illness.

For the final day of the campaign, we're celebrating Bob, our husband/stepfather. His and our journey with FTD has helped others cope with their own years after his passing.

We hope you’ll take part in this campaign by celebrating someone who’s been important to your own journey! Let’s show the world we care about FTD. - Marie Sykes and Michelle Stafford

This World FTD Awareness Week, we're proud to help bring momentum to FTD research.

For Day 7 of the campaign, we're sharing our hope for what research can achieve in the near future, to benefit patients and families.

It is our hope that FTD research will lead to the first medication to help slow the progression of the disease, as well as combat symptoms in the next five years. We hope you’ll do what you can to advance research targeting FTD, which can help to ensure gains for people facing dementia and any form of neurodegenerative disease! - Marie Sykes and Michelle Stafford

This World FTD Awareness Week, we're proud to raise our voices for FTD education.

For Day 6 of the campaign, I’m taking action to help educate health professionals and others in my community by identifying healthcare providers who may still be unaware of FTD and describing our experience from the caregiver's perspective.
We hope you’ll take part and do the same! - Marie Sykes and Michelle Stafford

Day 4 of the campaign is focused on volunteering, to make a difference for other families affected by FTD or any form of dementia. Our goal in writing "An Evolution of Love: Life and Love with Frontotemporal Dementia" was to help one other family on a similar journey. We have been blessed by many who have reached out after reading our story to realize our goal has been exceeded. We continue to speak of Bob and FTD frequently to make others aware, and we hope you’ll consider joining us in giving your time and/or voice to this vital cause. - Marie Sykes and Michelle Stafford

Day 3 of the campaign is focused on sustaining the much-needed work on behalf of the FTD community, in countries around the world. Today we're taking action by making a donation to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (theaftd.org), and I hope you’ll do the same. The amount of your gift doesn’t matter – the fact that you’re willing to be a partner in work to address FTD and other forms of dementia and neurodegenerative disease does. - Marie Sykes and Michelle Stafford

We're proud to be part of World FTD Awareness Week – a global week of action to .

Day 2 of the campaign is focused on support. Today we're taking action, focused on support for this journey. We will be connecting with a friend who recently lost their father to Lewey Body Dementia. If FTD or any form of dementia has impacted your life, help and support can make a difference. Don’t face this journey alone. If you know someone affected, reach out and offer to help them with something concrete today. - Marie Sykes and Michelle Stafford

World FTD Awareness Week is here. Each day this week we'll be taking a specific action to show the world we care about this disease and the global community it impacts.

Today, we're focused on self-care. If you or someone you love is affected by FTD or any form of dementia, we encourage you to focus on self-care today, to benefit your own health in at least some small way. - Marie Sykes and Michelle Stafford

We lost Bob 16 years ago today. As horrific as FTD is, it’s incredible to see the advancements made in research and awareness in the 18 years or so since his diagnosis, thanks to the great work of The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration. Marie and Michelle donate to AFTD several times a year, but always on this anniversary.

This photo isn’t from your last Father’s Day but you wouldn’t stand still long enough on your last for a photo. I have no doubt that when I leave a balloon or we replace your flag, and they won’t stand still until we’re back at the car, it’s you letting us know you’re happy for the visit. We don’t need a visit to be reminded of you though because you’re always loved and never forgotten ❤️
