Hey there, Transplants - we have some important information for you. Together with our sister Hub, Seattle Transplant [link to page], we’ve made the decision to pause our events and membership program as of August 1. As a team, we’ve decided to embrace the “what’s next” and lovingly take it into a moment of pause and reflection. We know that this community is strong and resilient, and we’re thankful for it every day.

For our full message, head to the link below. Hopefully “Goodbye for now” will turn into “We’re ready to welcome you back” one day soon.

Since the beginning of the year, we, like many of you, had big plans. Those plans came with expectations of what we were going to accomplish, all the amazing events and experiences we were going to create, and all the fun things ahead in 2020. Then we collectively went through disruptions that shook...

Period.

We've taken up the call to action in this historic movement for a more just and equitable world.

Click here to read our full statement.

Let us begin with a simple pronouncement: Black lives matter. Yes, an organization exists and operates under that name. We’re not simply expressing support for an organization - we seek to acknowledge, as best as we can, that the protests and civil unrest of the last couple weeks are rooted in the...

Dreaming of adventure 💫 We're looking back at some of our favorite trips outdoors from years past. Today I'm (Jocelyn) sharing a few of my own. Pictured above is the beginning of an 8 mile trail that ends at the Conundrum Hot Springs in Colorado. Check out our stories to see a few more of my favorite places, and feel free to tag us in some of your own!

Our recent email (it’s never too late to subscribe 😊) noted that we’d be sharing some outdoor pictures to help us all get through these stay at home times. This is on the path to the southern end of the Enola Low Grade, which splits at the Sage Harbor Dam. We’d love to see your outdoor pictures, preferably old ones to remind us what time was like before we had to physically distance ourselves from one another. Tag us and we may share your image on our FB and IG!

Our Social Solidarity Tip #5: Play more

Play games: play an old favorite from your childhood or learn a new one. Make something silly; a poem, a drawing, a skit. Play hide and seek with your pet. Just let your imagination do the work.

Our Social Solidarity Tip #3: Create a new routine or rediscover old ones

We humans need routines. Currently we’re either trying to balance many more responsibilities at once, or we suddenly have a lack of things to get done. This is an excellent time to check in with yourself and see what helps you to stay present. Maybe you read a page from your favorite book before getting out of bed. Perhaps you schedule a weekly video call with a loved one, or tackle a big project ten minutes each day. Maybe you set a virtual playdate for your little ones or just take a moment each day to look out a window. Whatever you do, it’s up to you.

Our Social Solidarity Tip #4: Stay connected

Now, more than ever, we have the ability to connect with each other without ever leaving our homes. For those of us who are fortunate to have the internet at our fingertips, we can livestream DJs, video call with our loved ones, and take virtual tours of museums. For those of us that don’t have this technology at our fingertips or choose to disengage, you can send someone a text (or write *GASP* them a letter), wave to others from our front porches, or make a phone call. For those of us who live further outside the city limits, you still have mother earth to connect with. She’ll always be there, and spring, spring is here!

** Please follow all guidelines of the Stay-at-Home order issued by Governor Wolf on Friday, March 27th. At that time, Lancaster County was added to the Governor's list. **

Our Social Solidarity Tip #2: Get creative

Whether you think you’re creative or not, this spring o' isolation could be an opportunity to explore that side that’s often forgotten or overlooked. And let’s be real, those of us who consider ourselves creatives have been “too busy” to explore new concepts or mediums for a long time. Check out the online kits and art supplies curio. Gallery & Creative Supply has online.

Our Social Solidarity Tip # 1:

Find out how you can support a local business or organization.Lanc.Care (launched by Pennant Creatives with inspiration from our fave, Michael Sirianni) was recently mobilized to start collecting information about local businesses. You can visit the website to learn more about how you can support them, order a gift card, or learn how to place an order.

It’s also worth mentioning to check in directly with individual businesses to see how you can support them and their employees during this time of uncertainty.

Keep our small town’s big heart pumping-- stock up on gift cards, choose a carry out option, shop online at your favorite local places

Hello friends! We’re going to be apart for some time, but we’re going to build community creatively, and virtually. In the weeks and months ahead, we want to be a resource for you in the best way we can. Because if we can’t get together in real life, we can most certainly get together virtually!

We’re planning on hosting a few virtual events, giving you ideas to stay happy, healthy, and strong, and connecting you with the virtual community of support growing in Lancaster.

Thank you for a magical night once again, friends 💖🦄 Thank you Thistle Finch Distillery for being such gracious hosts. And thank you everyone who shared their confessions in community. We laughed, we sighed, and we ended the night with a badass poem. Transplants (and Locals), you never disappoint.

If you’ve seen our story, then you already know that we’re excited for Confessions at Thistle Finch Distillery tonight at 7pm! Bring your good energy and trusting spirit and we’ll have a great night.

One thing to note, our friends at Wacker Brewing Co. have begun the process of moving their operations to Willow Street, PA (thanks for the memories, friends) so beer options are limited to cans of the "Wacky Boh" Pilsner, but Thistle Finch still has you covered for liquor based libations (and non-alcoholic goodness too).

See you tonight!

Let’s be honest, we all have things we need to get off our chest. Join us at for Confessions on Wednesday, February 5th at 7pm to share a beverage, a laugh, a cry (we will have resources available to aid in your processing), or just come and be a human and enjoy the communal atmosphere. We are still buzzing about how awesome last night was! From Jesse Clark of Station One Center for the Arts (seen testing the Introvert's Corner before people arrived in the second picture) for allowing us into his space, to the places that fed us: Trio Bar and Grill in West Hempfield, Antonio's Pizza House, Catalina's on Orange, Commonwealth On Queen, Espino's Pizza Pastas & Subs, and Tivoni Vegan Kitchen & Bakery ...we couldn't have pulled it off without all of you!

See you all next time 🥳

Our founder Jocelyn Park and membership master Robert Diggs recently sat down with Jason Mundok at The Candy Factory to reminisce about our evolution as a community organization. Give our episode a listen, via one of the myriad podcast apps listed in their post below, then join us at our Lancaster Transplant Mixer 2019 at Station One Center for the Arts on Saturday night so we can tell you all about us in person!

Also, be sure to subscribe to DO.ERS to hear the stories of the 12 (and counting) other awesome small businesses that Jason has interviewed to date. We really are a happenin' place and are so happy that we get to share this wonderful city with all of you!

Episode 013 of the DO.ERS podcast features Jocelyn Park and Robert Diggs from Lancaster Transplant, a local business with the social mission of helping new people to the Lancaster area feel welcome in their new home.
