The Great Lakes Courier is a print and online forum dedicated to helping bicyclists spread the word about their projects, accomplishments, events, and issues. Our intent is to amplify bicycle culture, rather than inadvertently put it in the little boxes typically reserved for us in main stream media. Instead of allowing discussion of bikes to be limited to the bikes versus cars debate that typical
ly follows tragic accidents or plans for bike lanes, we aim to dig into bike culture--the people, the rides, the accomplishments, joys, and freedoms bicyclists enjoy in Cleveland. The Great Lakes Courier is a big umbrella with room for all kinds of cyclists--the commuters, the road racers, the mountain bikers, the tourists, the BMX riders, the track racers, the kids in the neighborhood, and the folks just doing their thing around town on a sunny day. We want to be inclusive, to show how large and diverse the cycling community is. It’s a big-umbrella concept: Whatever you, your club, your company, or your organization has to say about bicycles and the bicycle community, we have room for that. We want your stories about rides. We want your stories about neighborhoods as seen through a cyclist’s eyes. We want to hear about your accomplishments, whether they be commuting to work every day, or cycling through winter, or winning competitions, or losing weight. We want your stories about local issues that affect the cycling community: The bike lane proposals, the new trail proposals, the visions of bike stations, the reports on how many people are commuting these days. We want your race results. We want news of Critical Mass and your club rides. We want it all.
