Hey friends, are you thinking about buying a home or making a large purchase, but your credit score is below average? You're not alone, and there's no need to worry. Your credit score is simply a number, and it's not a reflection of your worth or character.

Here's the thing: Your credit score does play a role in the interest rate you'll receive and the type of loan you'll be eligible for. To qualify for the best rates and most options, aiming for a score of 720 or higher is a good target, especially in today's high-interest rate environment.

If your score falls in the 620-680 range, consider holding off on major purchases for a month or two while you work on paying down your debt (look up the "debt snowball method" for a great strategy). Keeping your credit card balances below 25%-30% of the limit can help improve your score. This is known as credit utilization, and maxing out your cards can negatively impact your score, even if you're making timely payments.

Improving your credit score to 720 may take some time, but with consistent effort, you can get there. Your dream home or big purchase is still within reach, and managing your credit wisely is a step in the right direction.
