Eight years ago I decided to start this page to reignite my passion for photography. While I never stopped shooting, having this page helped drive me outside with the camera more often. It also helped me to strive to get better, both technically and creatively. I've had some amazing adventures in the last 8 years thanks!

I am also eternally grateful and thankful for each of you. Everyone has in someway supported me along this journey, from the simplest like to actually putting one (or more) of my photographs on your wall. I can never thank you all enough.

Along the way, there have been several people that have really been a great help or inspiration.

Julie Kvidera McDillon has been and is utterly amazing - putting up with my random stops on road trips to me taking off for a long weekend so I can lose myself in nature to continue to hone my craft. I couldn't do this without you supporting this passion of mine!

Next, Daisy Perez at Daisy's Artish - For believing in me and my art enough to have me at your shop for so many shows and years! Talking photography and art with you and your support over this last 8ish years has been some of my favorite times.

And finally, one of my best friends and fellow photographer - Chandra Lynn Jewell, who talked me through a lot of post processing stuff in the early days and loves to geek out talking photography and camera stuff.

Again, I can't thank everyone enough for your support over the last eight years!

The hazy, filtered sun lightly shining through to the surface of Lake Michigan, emphasized with the cloud break on the horizon made me feel the sense of awe of this Great Lake. Inspiration Point truly lived up to its name.

6-shot panoramic, painstakingly stitched and blended in Photoshop the old fashioned way. (Lightroom wasn't up to the task with these shots).

I decided to change it up a little to start the year. Instead of heading to the UP, I'm heading to Northern Michigan in a couple weeks (thinking around Manistee) to do shoot some snowy dunes, lighthouses, Lake Michigan, etc.

Manistee seems to be the best option because fairly easy access to Ludington, Empire, Point Betsie, etc.

Any other spots in that area I should consider? I'll have about 2 full days of shooting on this trip.

2024 Year of Photos...

These are my favorites from the year, in no particular order...

Between planning, driving, shooting, and editing, there were many hours spent in pursuit of my passion.

While I did meet my goal of shooting in a new location at least once per month, not every location is included.

Happy New Year!!

While I shot this the other day, still in 2024 - this is my first posted image of 2025.

Went for the fine art look and feel edit on this one and thought the 16x9 crop was perfect!

Live video coming later today to talk about the 2024 photography year and what is potentially coming up in 2025!

Last image that I'm posting in 2024...

This is an exposure blend of 2 images.

The first image was a 2 minute exposure to get the movement in the clouds.

The second image, taken immediately following the first was a 1 second exposure to capture the motion of the waves.

One more for today... a 4 shot panoramic, stitched together in Lightroom Classic. Basic edits and a slight Orton Effect. I'm happy with this edit, but I might edit a copy to get a more "painterly" feel to it.

Love the pastel colors on the clouds from the filtered sun behind me.

A quick stop at St. Joseph Lighthouse on the way back to Illinois this morning.

Got there right about 10 minutes after sunrise, but with the bluff and the clouds, it was perfect timing...

Lake Michigan was definitely temperamental this morning and showed her pretty self for the shots I got!

More shots coming later this week, but definitely a successful last shoot of the year!
