Holiday Closures

Calhoun County offices will close at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and will be closed all day Wednesday, Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas.

In addition, Calhoun County offices will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1 in observance of New Year's Day.

A representative from the Rockwell City Airport, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, shared that they are expecting Santa Claus to arrive on the evening of Dec. 24.

“Santa has a variable schedule that day, so he does not have a firm landing time. We have reserved the runway for him for the entire evening.”

*Proposed Wind Tower Ordinance*

The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors is currently reviewing a proposed wind tower ordinance, which can be viewed at:

A public hearing for the second reading of the ordinance will be held Monday, Dec. 23 at 11:30 a.m. at the County Courthouse.

Marion “Tuff” Bradley grew up in Lake City. While he moved away after graduating from high school in 1949, he never forgot about his hometown — a fact made evident by his estate’s recent donation to Lake City.

If you’re attending tonight’s basketball games vs E Sac bring some non perishable items for the local food pantry!

💙💛SCC FFA/FCCLA vs East Sac Food Drive💛💙

SCC has challenged East Sac to see which school can collect the most nonperishable food items at the HS basketball games tonight at the SCC Middle School in Rockwell City! As seen below, items can include cans, granola bars, hygiene products and paper products.

Please drop items off at the front entrance when paying for your ticket. There will be an FFA/FCCLA table and a few of our members by the ticket booth to drop your items off at! The schools will each keep half of the items collected in order to support the wide community both schools serve!

Anyone can bring items! Community members are invited to participate tonight as well!

🏀 Tonight the Titans take on Twin Lakes Conference rivals East Sac.
The girls start at 6 p.m. with the boys game to follow at the middle school gym in Rockwell City.

When South Central Calhoun (SCC) Middle School decided to replace their gym bleachers earlier this year, school officials had to decide what to do with the old wooden bleachers.

While the bleachers were over 50 years old, the 4500 linear feet of southern yellow pine boards were still in good condition.

Rockwell City has a new mayor. At their Nov. 18 meeting, the City Council appointed Jeff Fistler, who takes on the role after Mayor Phil Heinlen passed away in early November. Heinlen had served as mayor since 2000.

Small, but mighty!
The SCC dance team is coming home with a Division 1 rating and🥉 place in the novelty category!! They also received a distinguished academic award for having a team GPA above 3.50
