Who We Are
Talker’s Point Community Radio (TPCR) and Community Radio LIVE (“CRL”) are a two-sided theatrical effort set around a fictional low-power FM radio station in the equally-fictional lakeside village of Talker’s Point. TPCR is a web-based performance, recorded and transmitted as a podcast; it takes an episodic form, centered around a recurring cast with interstitial ads/skits between chapters. CRL features local amateur theatrical and musical talent and is a variety-style production, combining comedic sketches, ads and interviews with musical numbers by the cast and guest artists. Audience participation will be involved. Both versions of the show are family-friendly. Launching in late 2020 or early 2021, TPCR and CRL are already in the scripting process but are actively seeking additional writers. We have also begun recruiting locals for the following roles: voice talent (actors at the microphones), foley artists (the technical heart of the show), cartoonists (to enable TPCR to become a YouTube presentation), a “house band” (acoustic musicians/vocalists) and local music acts. Participation for music acts is expected to be on a single-show basis on CRL; the others will either appear regularly or on an at-large basis, whichever works best for each person’s schedule. In short, we intend for this experience to be stress-free and life-friendly for the participants. FYI: this show is run completely on a volunteer (unpaid) basis at this point. Reach out to me (Sean) at [email protected] if you are interested in participating.
Once COVID can be worked around, the CRL show will be held once monthly at the Almira Township Hall in the village of Lake Ann, Michigan. No admission will be charged, although we will request donations to defray production and venue costs.
